I've been reading some stories of peoples adventures with this game.(Find them at SimHQ.com)And they talk about how they fly as a comanche then they get shot down and they go to map screen and get in a apache to avenge the comanches death.Do you have to have apache havoc to fly the apache in C-H.Also can I fly the comanche in A-H campaigns? How many campaigns does A-H have?Could you please email your responses to:[email protected]!

Yes and yes. You have to have A/H to fly the apache in C/H and you can fly the comanche in A/H campaigns. There are 3 campaigns in each giving you 6 if you have both.

I had AH and have now bought CH and installed both.

I was wondering if CH does anything to the old AH scenarios and campaigns - I havent seen any details anywhere other than they are flyable - are there any changes/improvements ?

Yes, in effect C-H installs few of it's own campaign files for old A-H campaigns. Although the C-H strategy guide states that you will do them old style (i.e. destroy the opposing forces up to certain percentag and fly in certain key sectors to capture them) it's actually different. In fact it would present you with the set of objectives as in new C-H campigns. Such as capture base or destroy particular carrier. Besides, AI and campaign engine changed and those files are responsible for interpreting the A-H campaigns accordingly. So there are improvements and changes, but they kept more or less overal campaigns structure.

I've never played a game with a dynamic campaign. How exactly does it work? When you first start the game is the campaign running already or do you have to click on a campaign button.Does it stop ever?

The campaign will run and run until either, 1) You win(destroy enemy and primary targets) or lose(enemy destroys you and primary targets) the campaign, 2) Save the game and exit to Windows or turn off the computer, and 3) Stop flying in the current campaign and fly in a new campaign.
After you start a campaign, you can either sit back and watch the computer fight the campaign, or you can give assistance on tasked missions. The "dynamics" are involved when you fly the same campaign more than once, the outcome will never be the same. Also, you fly a mission for example, take out an enemy FARP and land safely back at base. Then, if you immediately take off on a new mission and fly over the area that you previously destroyed, the destroyed items should still be there unless the enemy or friendly engineers have started repairs on the area in question.

Hope this helps.

yea, thanks for info.Do you have to land to succesfully complete a mission? Also were do you choose the missions from?I've heard that you can fly any mission in the campaign if it has the helos you can fly.Is this true? Also how do you know which ones to fly?Iv'e just read a post that said theres only one mission to choose from at a time. How's that considered a dynamic campaign? How does the whole mission selection process work?

Hey Sparrow_52nd,

Ok, let me see if I can explain this. As far as landing to complete a mission, the answer is yes , if YOU want to get credit for the mission(ie promotions, medals), then YES, if you don't feel like flying all the way back on your own, then YES as well, but no credit is given to YOU. You goto the map screen and click on QUIT MISSION (After making sure that it says MISSION COMPLETE on your DEBRIEF screen), and the AI will take over the flight and fly back to the base.

"I've heard that you can fly any mission in the campaign if it has the helos you can fly.Is this true?"

YES, this is true. As long as the mission has been tasked(AVAILABLE) or is en-route, you can click on the mission(Left side of the Map screen) and click ACCEPT MISSION. Then after you accept the mission, on the left side where the missions are listed, it shows which choppers are assigned to that particular mission, click on the CALLSIGN for the mission and it will show what kind of chopper has been assigned. Basically, the missions show up on an as needed basis, it depends on what is needed in the campaign(Unfortunately the AI determines this, but it does a pretty good job). You can also see how the campaign is going from the SIT-REP screen, it shows what areas are doing well and what areas are not, the game uses a percentage scale.

"How do you know which ones to fly?"

Well, that's totally up to you, whatever mission(s) you decide NOT to fly, the AI will do it for you. If you click on a mission, there is a timer that counts down to when the mission will start. Even if the AI starts to fly a mission, you can take over the mission and finish it yourself. Say it isn't a mission you like or wanted to do, and then the one you really wanted to do pops up, as long as its a chopper that is flyable in the game, you can quit the current mission(AI Takes over) and jump into the new one.
You can also just look at the map and see which areas are being overrun or need help(BLUE or RED ICONS and FILTERS), and then focus your attention on that area. Just keep in mind, to win the campaign, you need to complete the PRIMARY OBJECTIVES located on the SIT-REP screen.

I don't know what you are looking for as far as this sim goes, but trust me and all the other happy simmers on these boards, GET THE GAME, it is SO worth the money. Hope you get your copy soon,

Softball out.

Well, I ordered mine from Enemyengaged.com on March 28th, so I was one of the lucky ones that squeezed in under the cutoff. From what I have read on the web, the site you mentioned is good to go. Order Now! :-)

When I talk about PRIMARY MISSIONS, I mean PRIMARY TARGETS/GOALS. You must destroy or capture the PRIMARY TARGETS to win or finish the campaign. There is something like 6 PRIMARY TARGETS/GOALS that need to be completed. If one of the computer generated missions happens to be one of the PRIMARY TARGETS, then that's a start.
When I started to go after the PRIMARY TARGETS, I would jump into a chopper (AH64D Apache for example), I would complete the assigned mission(SEAD, BAI, ESCORT, etc..) and then fly towards the location of the PRIMARY TARGET on the map. All of the information and location of the PRIMARY TARGETS are listed on the SIT-REP screen. For example, after completing one of my missions in an Apache, I decided to make a dent on one of the PRIMARY TARGETS(Oil Refinery) and do some damage. Well, to make a long story short, once I arrived at the area of the refinery, it was VERY HEAVILY guarded by SAMS and I was knocked out of the sky in a matter of minutes, if not seconds.

I think that once you get the game, read the manual, and start flying, it will make a little more sense. I would imagine it's difficult to picture exactly what people are trying to explain without ever seeing the sim in action.

Hopefully, one day, they will release the DEMO and people can see for themselves.

Sparrow:

if you'd just email me and then drive up here (like next weekend) all your question would be answered!

BTW if you have EEAH, you got a pretty good idea of what the campaigns are like, and if you dont, get it so you can practice before you get your copy of EECH; its well worth the $15 you spend on it.

YES YES YES!!! You can go anywhere you want on the campaign map, before or after your mission. Just watch your fuel levels. You can even refuel and re-arm along the way at a friendly FARP. The possibilities are endless.
