A small question for those in the know. What is the interface system between the stationary & rotating parts of the squash plate? Graphite? Synthetic Grease?

Thanks

I have to assume you mean swash plate? If that is the case all helos do not use this system. One could go on for a long time about all the different materials used on helos these days. General rule for swash plates would be bearings I believe.

(not very helpfull I know but I am not sure what all you want to know)

Sorry swash plate...yes,yes, i'm going nuts!
Squash plate hey, mad, but its late!

Any way, what alternatives to this system are there? This is the classic system i assume. My question was about the interface material between these two members, how is it lubricated...yeah,yeah, weird question but i got to know! How is contact made between these two members, subject to various loadings and temperture varitions; to overcome the gyroscopic effect of the rotors must be quite a substance!

I'm informed they *look* like steel with either ball or roller bearings inside. And have regular grease fittings on them for lubrication. Not sure of lubrication
intervals, but told there's usually slung grease on and around them.

Is it important?
