I noticed something odd in EAW the other day. Both the BoB and 1943 campaigns play silky smooth on my V3 2K, AMD K6-2/460, 64M RAM system with all details (except for medium horizon) to max. However, as soon as I start a 1944 campaign my framerate suffers a big hit, making dogfights look like a slide show! Has anyone else had this experience? It appears as if the 1944 campaign is more CPU-intensive for some reason.

Have you set "Extra Squads" to higher than 2 or 3? I can only guess, but maybe the loss of framerate is due to the larger formations of bombers - in the 43 campaign they fly around with 24 bombers in one formation, and later they are - I think - 36 in one formation...

Had the problem also on a PII/350, after upgrading to 128MB RAM (I know, they trade it like Platinum now) it disappeared - can't tell how it's now on a Celeron, still running the thing in software mode...

Just to update my earlier comment. It seems like this might be a RAM issue since the framerate problem I was having in the 1944 campaign disappeared as soon as I bumped my RAM to 128 Meg

Ah - you beat me to it - I was going to suggest more RAM. It certainly helped my PC run EAW faster (I have a K6-2 450, with 128Mb RAM (now) and a Hercules 16Mb Dynamite TNT card).
