I don't know if this matters to anyone else, but...

I have been using some custom sound files that I made using a CD of music from the '40s. I recorded 2 songs for the Brits and 2 for the Yanks, then degraded them a bit so they'd sound more "radioish". If anyone wants to try them out, just email me at [email protected] and I'll send them to you.

I like MeatWater's (thanks again) radio files for the Huns, but I think mine are better for the Allies.

Are you guys talking about playing music while flying? Did I miss something? I'd sure love to be able to play Chattanuga Choo Choo (SP) while strafing those trains.

The barrack scene with radio music playing is shown after a Campaign Mission (not Single Missions) if you are not a squadron/staffel commander. If you are a unit commander then you have an "office"---no barrack.

By the way, if you wish to listen to any of EAW's music files in Windows, including the files I am giving away, just change the extension to .wav and double click on the file. Windows Media player should play it.

56thFG_Pharaoh,
The music files need to be recorded in "Microsoft ADPCM,8.000 kHz, 4 Bit, Mono". After recording them change the extension from .wav to .adp. The Windows Sound Recorder can record this format, but will only do 60 seconds of it. I had to do a search on "ADPCM" and download a Windows 3.11 shareware program to do the recording.

I do not know what format the simulation sounds (engines, guns, under cart, ect.) are in. They are not playable using Windows Media Player.

Thanks Karnak. Downloaded and installed, sounds great. Now that I know how to do that, I have an old Vera Lynn album I'm looking forward to doing "White Cliffs of Dover" and "We'll meet again" for the Brit radio.
As old as it is though, the album is in excellent condition, how did you get those "scratchy" radio sounds?

Salute!

S!Karnak."There I was, dozing on my lumpy DOD mattress, waiting for another scramble, when Freddy Tolliver(Hes the one with the hacking cough from smoking 2 packs a day of Woodbines)turns on the old Philco radio that
Harry Tate left before he was flamed last month.Luckily he found a great radio station from London that plays a lot of those swing tunes from America, and this time it was one of my favorites,"Moonlight Serenade"played by that new band "Glenn Miller" or something.I have to tell you it brought a lump to my throat when I heard it and thought about the dances at the Hammersmith Palais I was enjoying a few months ago.Maybe when this crazy war is over Ill be able to go there again, who knows.Oops, have to go,there goes the siren for another scramble.Probably coming over Dover again.Bastards!(Just a little Thank You,Karnak, for a great add-on to a fabulous sim. Will we see some more tunes added, perhaps some by English bands of the 30s and 40s?)

56thFG_Pharaoh,
I reduced the recording quality and recorded the tune, then again and again.

Anyway, I think thats how I did it. Its been awhile since they were done. I'd have offered them before if I knew there was this much interest in them. I have a 5th song could be switched with one of these.

Hi there!

The SND files can be read by a program named 'cool edit 96' and it's newer version 'cool edit pro'.

Unfortunately, the demo versions available for download in the net (on any bigger shareware site) are fully functional BESIDES that one CAN'T SAVE the edited files. But you can at least LISTEN to them.

Those programs don't let themselves being cheated by file endings, but rather scan the files' structure.

To lower enthusiasm: Registering that software is REALLY expensive (400 US-$ !!!), as it is professional software. And without registering, there's no saving, no fun...

Donster,
I would love to be able to have more than two chanels, but I don't know how to go about it. I would have to be a programmer, which I'm not (yet) to be able to modify the code. The best I could do is do a long recording with multiple songs. They would always play in the same order, but at least it wouldn't be the same song looping over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over an.......

Randy,
I don't have anything that would be appropriate for the Germans. The full version of Meatwater's EAW Soundpack 2.0 has some good German radio in it. It is a 17 Mb download.

I have 2 wavefiles that I have created from MP3's that would be great for the German radio. What is the name of the radio wav files in question so that I can convert and rename mine so that they will play in the barracks? Actually, what are the file names for all the radio wav's? I have some good swing band MP3's as well.

CO,
I posted a description of how to make the files in the 22nd post of this thread. The files are named Aradiom1.adp, Aradiom2.adp, Bradiom1.adp, Bradiom2.adp, Gradiom1.adp and Gradiom2.adp.

Highlander,
and anyone else interested in the files. I sent them to Airbuddha and he said that he'd host them on his site. I don't have time to send them up becasue of the holidays and my New Years vacation to Mexico.

Merry Christmas and a pleasant, Y2K Bug free, New Years.
