Is anyone actively working on this?

Yes, I am working towards getting a Japanese sound pack done. I want to do the wingman, bomber, and ground control speech, but ignore the mission briefings (no one listens to them anyway). I have a few Japanese friends who will do the voices. I now have a listing of all the lines that need to be recorded.

My only concern is that my Japanese friends may not know good idiomatic translations for all the radio chatter. If bucky-s (or anyone else who knows Japanese) is listening, would you be willing to provide me with some suggestions for good translations? If you are willing, say so, and I will ask you specific translation questions which you can answer right away if you know, or inquire about if you don't know yourself. How does that sound?

Jamie,

Sure thing. Fire away with those specific requests. I'll be happy to do them. As for the .wav files themselves, I kinda had my heart set on doing them personally, but as a language professional, I now realize the folly of NOT having a twenty-something native speaker doing them instead of yours truly, thirtysomething sim weirdo from NYC.

In one of my "day time jobs" I'm a translator for Hasegawa Models. Military translation is a specialty.

You can reach me for specifics through my website:

Now we just need some Ruskies for a Russian sound pack. What a pity we were all so rude to the Flanker forum.

Got thinking about this today...would it be possible to improve the British ground controllers a bit...WOMEN!!!! I do believe that some sexy British female voices would add greatly to the, er, ah, realism and enable us to keep our hands on the stick (so to speak)!!

Absolutely! Second the motion! I'm getting sick and tired of all those bad Sean Connery and Aussie accents.
