...donwloads.
OK, I'm relatively new to EAW (had it for some time now, but haven't played with it much yet). I've got the v1.2 patch. I seek to enhance the EAW experience. Which downloads would you recommend? I'm not much interested in flying 'new' a/c (eg Jap planes, etc) or in flying the previously-unflyable a/c such as He-111, Ju-88, B-26 etc. I'm more interested in the tweaks that would improve the game (more realistic, sturdier bombers, and so on).
I know of Charles Gunst's work on ECA - I'll be trying that. Can't decide on Meatwater's sound pack (a huge download!). Any others that I may have missed?
Any help appreciated. Thanks.
BTW - enjoy reading this forum. Thanks to Donster for all the babes. Also, this is my bit to win the 'war' vs the Fwank.. oops, I mean Flanker forum.

You can download meatwaters 2.0 and 2.5 which are only about 3 megs. The 2.0 3meg is a must have. That's the one I got. Also get eca1.4 and the skins. Go into the ini file and set your res at 1280x1024 or whatever res your putter can handle.

I second what Bigshot said, and will add, go for the full MeatWater (all 17mgs, long download time, but worth it). Also get JayP's terrain, EAWControl Panel 1.6 and any other goodies you can find. Keep checking this forum (site).

And welcome to a VERY addictive game (hope you don't have any plans for the next few months). (and as a public service announcement...Please remember to shower once a day, I know it takes time away from EAW, but it does help the rest of us in an ever more crowded world, thank you for your attention, now which way did that 109 go???).

By the way, don't look now, but isn't that a 38J on YOUR tail? Say Hello to Donster!

0-9'r...I think ECA and ECApanel(the latest versions) are the best improvements you can make to EAW 1.2. ECA tweaks weapons performance and some flight models. It also adds extra armor values to all A/C to balance out the added gun power. All the new skins make the game almost seem like new each time you change them. Charles Gunst is due to release another update to ECA with more goodies. Keep an eye out. Also interesting are the new flight models in ECA Online. Haven't tried them yet. I think the only difference between Meatwater's full version and the "lite" version is the full version contains new "radio" music and new German briefings. The main sound effects are the same in both. (Correct me if I'm wrong, guys). I only have the "lite" version.
Welcome to the club.

Tailspin,

You are correct, the lite version does not have the radio/briefings. I had the lite version too, but one day with a couple of hours to kill I downloaded the full version for giggles and have been very impressed by the sound. I think it does add to the overall feel of the game. Love to play a mission and then click n the radio while I do something else. (like figure out how to get Bigshot and his 109 off my tail, Donster where are you? Come and show the nice man in the Emil what a 38J can do.)

Mein Herren, Ja I too have the full download, did it a part here a part there from the smaller zip files. I especially like the German briefing, the guy sounds like he means it. Some of the Brit and American briefings always make me feel like they're about to add,"Oh and if you have the time, try to shoot something...*yawn*" The German ones now make me feel like if I don't come back with some kills that the Gestapo will be waiting to help me unstrap my harness.
