Only for information:
The german Nickname for that IL-2 Plane was
"Betonflugzeug",i think this means in english Concrete-Plane.The whole Nose including the Area where the Pilot and the Gunner took seat,was build from relative
strong steel sheet metal.(Ilyushins Team learned that Bullets in any Case would hit in
a angle greather or smaller than 90 Degrees
and so the armour would not be so thick and heavy as they thought before.)

You right.

The attack with the angle near to 90% to armor of plane is too hard... With the angles of real attaks the shells ricochet of armor.
