I am kind of new to the simulation genre and I am immensly enjoying it. I don't really have a top line system so I just wanted to know what simulations would be able to run good on it. Here are the specs: 300MHz, 48RAM, 3dcard=Voodoo 1, Banshee 16mb

It's not much but I figure it can run something smoothly. Any replies would be helpful.

Thanks,
comelyone

F18Korea will be very smoooooth. Try demo. But it's a little hardcore. Keep trying the demos. BTW. F18Korea demo has VERY small size, but looks, and runs, just as good(or better) as it's "big" brotheres.

MiG Alley would run smoothly on your system. So would Jane's F-15 (but NOT F/A-18).

Ditto on the Janes F-15. I run Falcon 4.0 on my 266, 32MB, Monster Fusion driven system and I am happy with it, although you do see some page flipping and slight hesitation in the animation. I would recommend that too. Falcon 4.0 does require a 600x800 or better monitor though.

comelyone,
posting this on behalf of my little brother, he has an almost identical rig to you, and he swears by the 3dfx patched "Frontline Fighters" pack by Digital Integration consisting of F-16 Fighting Falcon, Apache Longbow and Hind. Not the most hardcore maybe, but the 3dfx patch has smartened them up a lot, and they totally rocket along on his machine, which as I said is almost identical to yours. This pack would be dirt cheap, and offer you a good variety, and even if you hated them all, you wouldn't be too much out of pocket.

He was all fired up for an F-16 sim, bought the pack, 15 - approx US $23-$25, loved it, but is even more hooked on Apache Longbow and Hind.

"Sims are like a box of chocolates...you never know what one you're gonna like".

Er..sorry.

Thanks to all who replied!

To JayP: I understand that MiG Alley is a new simulation. How will it be able to run good on my system? Also, are you saying it will just run or will it run good?

Thanks,
comelyone
