While I think that this idea is a great step toward a better relationship between the simmer and the developer, I just couldn't believe some of the results of the survey.

What got me the most was the overwhelming amount of people who would not mind advertisements in the game. Whether they were directly involved or indirectly. Just as long as were bug free? Geesh, I can just see it now 5 years from now...

I'm in an F-22 sim, I line up on an unsuspecting SU-27, I fire an Aim-120C an as the missle streaks towards the target the game pauses and plays,"This kill is brought to you by Arm and Hammer Baking soda"

Or coming in for a landing, and as you come too a stop the sim cuts to a cutscene of your pilot jumping out of the plane and playing"Mentos, the FRESH maker!" hehehe. Sorry, I guess I'm over-reacting a little bit.

I'm about to eject..."Before you eject, be remember to try great tasting Snapple, available at your local grocer" hehehehe, I can see it now.

I agree, advertisements within the game would be terrible. Although they might not be as artlessly inserted as in your examples , they would still be intrusive, even in the interface screens, to say nothing of within the game.

"we'll start the preflights at 0400 hours sharp, this may be the most important mission of the war, and remember, real Air Force pilots drink delicious RC Cola"

Or, your flying over **ANY** frist world western city, and what do you see? nothing but adverts plastered over EVERY availible flat space and large corporate logos on EVERY building. IMO the lack of modern adverts when flying over a city is unrealistic. I think that flying over bill boards or a Pizza Hut etc is what they had in mind WRT advertising, at least I hope it is.
As for the "poll", the questions didn't give much leway. I for one would have asked a question like this, "what you like a simm that was A2G orientated or more A2A orientated". The lack of a modern combat jet option alo pissed me off (Sea Harrier, A-10, Grippen etc).

I too was shocked by how many people voted that advertisements would be aceptable if it lowered the cost of making sims.

I voted my objection to ads for both quesions. I hate ads, especially the blinking ones.

Please, don't let advertising infiltrate our games or there is no stopping them! It's our last line of defense. Stop them now!

I'm still standing my willingness to have corporate logo's as the nose art on my aircraft.

I still remember several years ago when they started to show advertisements at the beginning of movies and all the flak that ensued. Who actually cares about that anymore?

We are so inundated by advertising these days that you begin to develop a filter. The only problem is that the marketeers realize this and start to make the ads more intrusive and blantant. Who would have thought "The FEDEX Orange Bowl" and advertisements on the side of school buses? It will just get worse.
