There's two things you have to do independently .
1. Drift Correction : Press and Hold the N key (ot the B key for fine adjustment) and move the stick left or right. What you do here is turning the plane to crab into the wind, so it takes a while until you see the effect. Makes changes and wait for the effect, then make the next change, etc.; the closer you get to the target the more sensitive it becomes.
2. Rate of closure correction : This is independent from the drift correction, so don't touch any key when you move the stick fore/aft to correct.
Aim of both things is to keep the center of the crosshair without movement on your target. If it moves too much to compensate with above steps, then use Shift-K to get into search mode and "reacquire" your target.

Hope that wasn't too confusing :-).

Desmo...

Thks a lot. It did help very much and was not at all confusing. My problem was that I did not understand that I had to hold N key and then move joystick while holding the key.

Cheers!

Thx Desmo I also had the same problem. The book should tell to HOLD the "N" key. I really dont like this book, I wish they could have make it like the one in Falcon 4. Oh well!
