I´ve just started playing a historical campaign, beginning in March 1944. In the briefing for the mission I´m about to fly, it says that I must attack German troop concentrations that are dangerously close to our own guys. Now I wonder; what are American troops doing in France in March of 1944?!? I thought D-day wasn´t until June the same year? I don´t mind though, it won´t make the game any less captivating,I just thought it was a bit peculiar...

Perhaps they are referring to Wehrmacht formations in Calais.

Wasnt there a big raid about that time? Where the plot was to test Wehrmacht response time and steal one of their radar units? I think it lastedlong enough to have received, or was suppose to receive significant air support. Maybe thats what its refering to?

Only American troops in March 44 in Europe were in Italy.
Bruneval was a Brit commando raid in '42 (I believe) to steal a radar unit.
8th AF and Bomber Command were plastering the transportation net in March 44 for the run up to D-Day. Any Allies in France at that time were OSS (American) SOE (Brit), aircrew POW or the dead.
