Apparently, recently, a new modification of MiG-31 was tested at a
Mikoyan test facility. A new version, however, turned out to be much
heavier than a standard MiG-31, so during a take-off the plane collided
with a fence at the end of runway.
Several proposals were made at the constructor's meeting--to install
a new, more powerful engine; to use afterburners during take-off
(ordinarily, russian pilots don't use afterburners at take-off time);
to use lighter production materials to decrease the weight of the
plane; even to mount small disposable rockets on the wingtips to
increase initial thrust.
The final decision, however, was to move the fence further away from
the runway

The simplest solution is usually the best solution, or the cheapest if you're in Russia.

The best solution is to put one of them hot Russian female test pilots at the controls. At half the body weight of their male friends they should solve the problem.

Given that plain MiG-31 weighs what, 20 tons, how much do you think them male pilots weigh to make a difference?
