From what I remember, DC was ahead of H4 in the release line-up.........does the Q1/2-2000 date imply that H4 is going to be pushed further back too?

Harpoon 4 is still on schedule for release this fall but I do not know an exact date.

Destroyer Command is currently being scheduled for a Q1 release, after Silent HunterII.

I had a chance to play DC for about 30 minutes, and it looks VERY nice. Rolling decks in heavy seas (with weather too!). Lots of interested elements such as night time engagements (spot lights are provided

It's being touted as a simulator, not a game which will please a lot of people. The nice element is that if you want, you can get down and dirty with all elements of your destroyer such as the AA guns, the main batteries, or just remain in your command view and let the AI do the job of running your ships minor functions. Very well thought out because it will appeal to a lot of people.

Planned for multiplayer is to allow your buddies to jump into the gun positions, and you all sail around the sea blasting away while your buddy steers the ship around. There are a lot more features that I will not mention because they will try to work it in but they are not 100% sure. Multiplayer will be very dynamic when coupled with Silent HunterII.

Cheers.

Ed

Destroyer Command sounds great. I'm also glad to hear that rumors of the demise of Silent Hunter II were exagerated.

Wow! One super looking game here! I have been waiting for a game like this ever since Epyx Destroyer on the Commodore 64. Glad to see it coming!

I just want to mention that I too saw destroyer Command at E-3. I was very impressed with it.

I play alot of other simulators especially flight, racing, and tanks. I've never played a navel simulator before, but I know a good sim when a see one.

This sim really got me excited. I beleive this will be my first navel simulator.

Salut!

I have to say that the compatability of DC with SHII strikes me as pretty damn cool... the question I have is whether or not you'll be able to do muti-player destroyer vs destroyer games.

And when are they gonna do something this cool with cruisers?

Destroyer vs Destroyer? You bet!

I think the idea behind having only Destroyers as controlable is because of their size and simplicity to control. How many combat stations can you find on a typical WWII destroyer? Perhaps 10 or 15? How many on a Cruiser? Over 50.

To make the game as simple and user friendly as possible (and easy to control) they stuck with Destroyers.
