Battle of Britain contains both a simulation and a strategic game. The most fun is had playing BOTH games simultaneously. This way the player can act as strategic commander and also fly the missions of choice.
If you want to learn how to enjoy both these facets of this remarkable simulation / strategy game, join Len "Viking1" as he explains some of the strategic and tactical considerations you'll have to make.
I really enjoyed reading your article. It just shows how absorbing this sim can be. I especially liked the way you mixed your article with historic stories. Well done indeed. I don't have BoB myself yet (still isn't available in the Netherlands), but I have ordered it directly from Empire earlier this week. I hope it will arrive soon . Anyway, I hope to be able to read more of your articles. Keep up the good work.

Nice piece, However, I think the operational decisions on the German side were the more crucial ones. Can you play as German strategucally?
