Hey Viking,

That's a nice article you've got there but I must admit it doesn't answer some of my most basic questions.

1. Mah Ohhh _Mah_,
Ah've got a Hun in mah I!!;-)

But I've also only got a PII-550 with 94megs and 2 gigs remaining HD. space.

Am I screw-ed dude?:``[

2. Tailorability Options Where 2 See?
I hear /very bad things/ about the graphics.
Yet I don't quite see the 'melty plastic model' effects (or at least I'm satisfied with the 'group photo' of P-47s) of the individual airframe models.

But things like the frame-pop terrain graphics and the fuzzy-farfield effects bother me.

I agree with whoever said that 20K is where the terrain should 'really look good' and while I'm not unwilling to accept the limits of my machine for checker boarding and/or limited detail on ground objects etc. I -would- like to know I can come up with /some/ combination of graphics resolution, detail or SE that will let me _see to the far horizon_???

Not a criticism, just a straight Q.

3. But Duz They Fight Gude?
'Cause I still say that tactics are what makes any combat game worth the doing.

Do you get the layered interactive formation attack effects and weapons-drill changes between say 1943 17F Company Front, and 1944 Sturmbock/Rammjaeger 30mm attacks?

Do the escorts have a high cover and do the Germans have a 'higher' tap-bounce effect?

Do the escorts react early to break up inbound contrails?

Do we get to sweep-ahead (or even after, and does this effect the Luftwaffe attrition model accordingly for the next hop)?

Do the Germans ONLY react as PDI's from airfields X/Y/Z along the inbound route or do they also navigate to a Marshall to predictively increase their total numbers at XX risk of a raid-turn putting them outside pursuit chase?

Do we see the effects of rockets and 37/50mm cannon from the twins?

Ahhhh, so many questions, so little money...;-)

Thanks Sir- Kurt Plummer

Viking, I feel that I must disagree with your suggestion to double the ammunition amount, as this would greatly unbalance and overweigh the ability of the aircraft. I have read stories of crews sneaking extra ammo aboard only to end up at the end of the runway with a load of bombs and the hard, hard ground meeting. If the sim flies normally with this massive change in weight(have you ever loaded a .50cal with just a 200-round belt?) then the flight model is inaccurate to the point of being, well, arcade.

I may be deranged but if even half of the problems with B-17 II (and Battle of Britain) are true I will not purchase either of these sims. As desperate as I am for new combat flight sims - and as long as I waited for these two I have "learned not to get burned"
by sims that are buggy, or poorly coded, and half-baked. With that said I am honestly glad you guys are diggin it.
