Make sure you unzip the file to your Flanker 2.0 directory and ensure that you unzip with the directory structure intact.

PROBLEMS TO BE ADDRESSED IN V2.51

Here is a recap of the six areas for V2.51 that we said that we were going to be concentrating our efforts to resolve:

  • The gun pipper inaccuracy. FIXED. Additionally, the burst problem has now been fixed. One pull of the trigger will result in a 25 round burst and the rounds counter will reset for the next trigger pull.

  • The padlock display problem where the speed and altitude of the target are missing from the HUD. FIXED. Target altitude and speed appear in the HUD as they did in V2.03. (NOTE: Target data on HUD, NOT mini-HUD.)

  • The inability to use aerial refueling in multiplayer sessions. NOT FIXED. This capability will not be possible in Flanker. We are working on this feature in Lock On. We know many of you will be disappointed, but this would require a major overhaul to the multiplayer engine that we can not perform for Flanker.

  • The inability to record track files in multiplayer sessions. FIXED. Track recording has been restored to multiplay. This places strain on the program and may slow Flanker considerably, especially if there are many units in the mission.

  • The problems with USB joysticks and throttles. FIXED FOR MOST. Most of the problems people were experiencing with joysticks and throttles has been fixed. Ensure that you are running DirectX 8 and that your joystick is properly configured in Windows.

  • Flicker problems with some Geforce cards. FIXED FOR MOST. Many GeForce users have had success by updating their drivers or by making changes to their configuration settings.

We removed the map tweaking in the Mission Editor for our S/U/M/A/ Platinum GeForce2 MX/MX PowerUp cards disabling Vertical Scan Sync mode in SUMA driver Direct3D settings. Not all drivers have this option. To access the VSync internal parameter some users applied stand alone Tweak Utility ( http://www.guru3d.com/geforcetweakutility/ ). ADDITIONAL FIXES MADE DURING V2.51 BETA PERIOD:
  • The air objects padlock in the NAV mode. NOTE: for landing submode locks the near airfield. FIXED. The landing submode airfield padlock is not fully functional.

  • Ground explosion bug while recording a track file is fixed. FIXED.

  • Different game controllers supported via DirectX 8 (joysticks, wheels, throttles, game pads, pedals etc.). DirectX 8 installation is incumbent now. You MUST use DirectX 8. FIXED IN MOST CASES.

  • F-15 drop tanks are now oriented properly. FIXED.

  • Speed, altitude and bank data are displayed in SETKA mode. (Key command "8") FIXED.

  • Multiplayer track recording is now fixed. FIXED. Using this feature will affect performance.

  • Multiplayer games are more stable. FIXED.

  • Graphics problems with the Kuznetzov aircraft carrier textures have been fixed. Fixed.

  • MiG-29K ailerons now exhibit correct motion when viewed externally. FIXED.

  • Mig-29K is more stable. FIXED. Several changes made in several of the Beta versions.

  • Some of the Mig-29 level of detail (LOD)problems have been corrected. FIXED.

  • MiG-29 External fuel tanks consume fuel first and fuel indicator does not show any main fuel consumption until the external tanks are empty. FIXED.

  • Landing touch down sound has been restored. FIXED.

  • Movement after belly landings is now restricted. FIXED.

  • Murena to Neustrashimy graphics problem has been fixed. FIXED

  • "Press 'S' to Start" message is now properly formatted in English. FIXED.

KNOWN PROBLEMS

  • The Standard Windows Interface has some stability problems and users cannot use the hide or unhide function with this interface selected.

  • The hide/unhide feature of the editor does work with the original interface. There is a lag and accelerate bug when using the Windows interface to give wingman commands.

  • Multiplayer refueling does not function.

  • Multiplayer carrier takeoff and landing assignments for client players does not function.
