Live action short film to get you in the mood for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.

By Taylor Cocke @ GameSpy

If you're super pumped for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, boy do we have a treat for you. To prep for the story of the upcoming tactical shooter, Ubisoft has put out a 24-minute prequel "movie." The high-budget affair sets the stage for the basic story of the upcoming game. There's a guy that some Americans need to kill because he's evil. There's a remote-controlled flying thingy. And there's a whole bunch of explosions. That's all I really got out of it. Frankly, it's all I needed.

Three legendary war correspondents — Robert Capa, Ernie Pyle, and Ernest Hemingway — scramble to cover the Allied advance across France

By Alex Kershaw @ HISTORYnet.com

Loudspeakers blared: "Fight to get your troops ashore…. If you've got any strength left, fight to save yourselves…. Away all boats!…. Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name…." At 5:50 a.m., the battleships Texas and Arkansas opened up. In Life photographer Robert Capa's landing craft, which was nearing Omaha Beach, some men were bailing water frantically with their helmets. Others looked up at the heavy salvos flying over their heads and cheered.

Treyarch: Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Doesn't Need a New Graphics Engine

Posted by Donster on: 2012-05-14 16:10:09 in category: First-Person Shooter News [ Print ]

By Wesley Yin-Poole @ EuroGamer

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 doesn't need a brand new game engine to improve the graphics over previous games in the series, Treyarch has insisted.

Black Ops 2 is built using the latest, most advanced version of the engine that Call of Duty developers have used to build the first-person shooter series since 2005's Call of Duty 2: a heavily modified version of the id Tech 3 engine.

Some fans have called on Activision to invest in a brand new graphics engine in order to spruce up Call of Duty's visuals. But Treyarch chief Mark Lamia said continuing to upgrade the current engine was enough to meet the development team's design goals.

Anno 2070 v1.05 Patch Released

Posted by Donster on: 2012-05-14 15:49:52 in category: Strategy and Wargaming News [ Print ]

Source: Gamer's Hell

Ubisoft today issued a new patch for Anno 2070, upgrading to v1.05 the latest iteration of this popular real-time strategy and simulation franchise. The logic for random map generation has been modified to allow for more variety in maps (five digit map numbers from before 1.05 will generate different maps than before), and the full screen menu of statistic buildings has been optimized. Also, ready-to-build warehouses and depots on the mouse cursor now automatically change to deep sea warehouses and underwater warehouses when you move the mouse cursor to the open sea or underwater - the right-click menu and the construction menu have been changed accordingly. At this point the patch is available through the in-game automatic updater. CHANGELIST

Review: PC Power & Cooling Silencer MkII 750W PSU

Posted by Donster on: 2012-05-14 15:42:28 in category: Power Supply News [ Print ]

By: Hilbert Hagedoorn @ GURU3D

The new model PC Power & Cooling power supply is their Silencer Mk II series of PSU's. It's the 'bloke' PSU series again with a simple design, and hey -- nothing is modular so the PSU certainly is a squid inside your system with all the tentacles (wires), but yeah .. lots of you don't really care about cable management, they just want the best of the best and sure ...as you'll learn you can't really complain about the essence that is the Mk II Silence 750W power supply.

Review: Corsair Performance Series Pro SSD (256GB)

Posted by Donster on: 2012-05-14 15:30:10 in category: Drives & Storage News [ Print ]

By Kristian Vättö @ AnandTech

There aren't too many Marvell SSDs on the market so the Performance Pro stole my attention immediately. When testing a SandForce drive, you pretty much know what to expect. Only Intel uses in-house firmware whereas the rest use the firmware that SandForce provides. That limits differentiation a lot. When it comes to Marvell, things are a lot more open and interesting. Firmwares are often proprietary and that's why you never know what to expect. Several readers pointed out the similarity between Corsair's Performance Series Pro and Plextor's M3 & M3 Pro. Maybe all Marvell drives don't carry an in-house firmware after all? Read on to find out if that's true and see how the Performance Pro fares in our tests.

Review: DeepCool Ice Wind Pro CPU Cooler

Posted by Donster on: 2012-05-14 15:13:07 in category: System Cooling [ Print ]

Author: Max Page @ FrostyTech

Deepcool's Ice Wind Pro heatsink is a rather novel CPU cooler for two unique qualities; 1) its heatpipe-to-fin arrangement and 2) the geometry of its leading and trailing fin edges. First off, rather than clusters of heatpipes at the left and right sides of the aluminum fin tower, the eight ends of the heatpipes are lined up straight in a row, 10mm apart, right down the middle of the heatsink. Secondly, the leading/trailing edges of the aluminum fin stack have five large, slightly arc'd diamond cut-outs parallel to the direction of the fins that break up the otherwise monolithic wall.

How these two aspects impact the Ice Wind Pro's thermal performance remains to be seen, so let's begin our look at this relatively thin profile tower cooler.
