Australian and New Zealand Combat Simulations Club's display
at The Australian International Airshow 1999

This year flight simulation groups from around Australia and New Zealand will be meeting under the banner of the "62nd Fighting Falcons Air Combat Simulation Club" at the Australian International Air Show and will be the centre piece attraction of the Aerosport Pavilion.

The Australian International Air show is the largest held in the Southern Hemisphere, and possibly amongst the top five largest air shows in the world.

The show is held every two years at the Avalon air base, some 40 minutes drive southwest of Melbourne. In 1999 the Air show will be held from the 15th February to the 21st February. The 15th to the 19th will be Trade Days, while the 20th and 21st will be Public Days.

Members from the 27th Williamstown Warlords, 62nd Fighting Falcons, 82nd Sydney Hawks and the 89th (New Zealand) Fighter Wing have been working together for the last 6 months on the display that will be show cased at the air show.

The aim of the display is to educate the general public about the operations of our clubs and to also attract new members to our exciting and fast growing hobby.

We will be using Su-27 Flanker v1.5 to demonstrate everyday squadron activity and we will also showcase new products such as Falcon 4 from Microprose, Flanker 2 from Mindscape and the "porta pits" of Allen Pawley and Paul Ward (trade enquiry's welcome).

Top Gun

We will be running two competitions using Falcon4 during the course of the air show. The first, called the International Airshow Topgun competition is for REAL LIFE FIGHTER PILOTS and the second, the Avalon Ace Competition, is for Australian Defense Forces Recruiting Center and it will be for prospective RAAF candidates.

Mindscape has also been good enough to provide a copy of the eagerly awaited Flanker V2 to preview at the Australian International Air Show, which will make us the envy of the entire Flanker world!

In working towards the air show we have been fortunate to receive support from Microprose in the form of prizes for the competitions, Mindscape for Flanker v2 and PC Gamer and would like to thank them for their support.

If you would like more information on the display or any other queries relating to it please contact Scott Boswell (scott.boswell@nz.unisys.com) or Boris Feldman (bfeldman@mail.usyd.edu.au) or visit Airshow.
