Hi all,

(I bought the game in Michigan this morning, BTW)

Here's my problem: I installed Panzer Elite, but that's as far as I can get. I did a full installation, and I ran the Psygnosis "3d configuration" program as the manual suggests. When I start the program, however, I see the Psygnosis movie, the Panzer Elite Movie, and then the rendered still-scene (a ruined town) with the Wings web-site logo in the lower left corner. And there I'm stuck. No menus appear, and no mouse pointer. If I touch a mouse button, I hear a "click" but nothing happens. If I hit Shift, Esc, or Enter, the program crashes to the desktop.

I have a Gateway P2-400 (not overclocked) and an STB Velocity 4400 TNT1 card. I've followed the Readme's configuration suggestions. I have all my latest drivers, and have recently done a clean reinstallation of Win95. Every other game I install (e.g. Rogue Spear, EAW, Falcon 4, Starfleet Command) works fine.

Does anyone have any idea of how to fix this? I've been waiting for a year to play Panzer Elite, and it's frustrating to be stuck now. Thanks.

Paul Roberts

I posted a replay on the other *blush* sim board.

Check this:
- DirectX6.1 installed?
- Whats your sound card. TRy updating those drivers, look if yours is listed in the readme.

Same thang happened to me...have yet to find a fix but have found some type of patch on wings site. Hope that works. I even re-installed it full install on my hard drive and it STILL kicks me to a blank screen in windows after loading and watchin the intro movies??? Any hints on why or how to get to the main menu and get the game to work... email me if u can. mdrobc@aol.com

Don't use that patch!!

The patch on the Wings website is for the beta testers, and it has nothing to do with the release version of the game. I don't know why they haven't removed it now that the beta test is over.

As for my problem (start of thread), the problem appears to be in my sound card drivers. This is a bummer, since I have all the latest drivers for my machine.

See the bulletin board at Wingssimulations.com for more discussion.

The major problem are old sound drivers which arent DX6.1 certified. We recomend installing reference drivers from Aureal which is the major chipset having problems. Turtlebeach Soundards or Diamond MX300's have this problem.

I have a Diamond Sonic Impact S70..which is listed as ESS Maestro driver wise in windows and all. I am atempting to download new drivers if I can find them. My drivers for my videocards ARE up to date so that couldn't be the problem. This is strange though since I just got Rogue Spear and USAF and Starfleet and they all run fine. Am using DC 7.0 but that has run fine with USAF too. Any help?

Oh yeah deleted the patch. thanx

It was the sound drivers as I thought and TEUT mentioned. If you have OLD sound drivers or maybe/possibly an OLD Soundcard then you get that error. I even downloaded the most recent Sonic Impact Drivers and still had the same crash.

SOOOO....went out last night and scraped up $75 for a Monster Sound II MX300 and just installed it. Not only does it sound a hell of alot better but the game runs now flawlessly the 1st time! Thanx guys! Great game...have yet to finish lookin at it all and playin it but so far so good.

I followed Teut's advice and updated my sound drivers. PE started up just fine after that.

Anybody having any problems with the Montego II A3D card. I bought my putter in Jan, '99 so drivers should be current, right?

Same goes with the TNTv4400. Anybody having any problems. This one has the 128 drivers and F4, CFS, EAW & WWII work perfect so I'm not changing anything for a new game. Thanks in advance.

If you have the detonator drivers you are fine with you TNT, we got least problems with TNT's.
Re: Your sound card. That depends what version number you use. The latest drivers and in fact the drivers before that work fine with Panzer Elite.
