Hi all,

I have encountered some problem with slewing my cursor with the AGM's. This happens in both slave and boresight mode.

To ground lock (boresight) or lock radar (slave) is no problem. The slewing works perfectly. Generally, I have breathing cursors immediately, so I designate immediately a second time. So far so good.

The problem occurs however after launching the first missile. When I try to move onto the next target while having the camera as SOI, the cursor slewing doesn't work properly. Whatever key (as in keyboard) I press, there is always an extra sideway component. Sometimes, my cursor always moves to the left, even when pressing right or up and down key. Sometimes it only moves to the right.

It makes multiple missile runs practically impossible. Anybody has any idea what is causing this and how it could be helped ?

Cheers.

Yep, I have noticed this bug from the very beginning of F4, and it's funny how no one complains of it. Maybe it's because of our video cards, which one are you using? I have a crappy Intel i740 AGP.

My video card is a very common Viper 770 TNT2 Ultra.

Mystery to me (the bug that is).

Good, so it's a bug then! Some coder can fix it, that is!

I don't think thats a bug,,,your still in ground stabilize mode. try breaking/release lock 2 times,,,see if it works then.

Don't think it's a bug. The additional slewing you are experiencing is probably due to the additional movement vector casued by the the forward motion of the a/c (my guess). One way to check would be to freeze (shift-p) the sim and try moving the cursors.

You might want to read the Sensor of Interest (SOI) article that Pete Bonanni wrote on the microprose falcon4 site a few years ago. I don't know if it's still up but it explains how to avoid SOI conflicts.

Hi all,

thank you for trying to help me out. Some of you however seem to think I'm not familiar with this jewel. Looking at the average level of questions sometimes, that's understandable. I have however read the complete manual about 5 times since I bought the sim + flew a respectable amount of hours.
I didn't experience this bug before the Ibeta releases, so I know it's most probably not me.
Now to answer your suggestions :
- Sinkhole33 : good idea ;-)
- Ed Kiefer : that is indeed the workaround I use. You should however be able to slew after ground stabelizing (in boresight mode) or in radar lock mode (in slave mode).
- Zero Niner :
Negative, the movement is sideways, not towards my 6 or 12 o'clock.
- Iron Cross :
SOI has become my middle name. I know where to look after ground stabilizing or radar locking : the camera window of my AGM's.
Before ground stabilizing or radar lock, the slewing works perfectly by the way.

Cheers

My gunning is so bad, I might as well throw them bullets by hand...
