I've had some limited success adding LANTIRN capability in Falcon 4. The biggest problem I'm having is that I can't find a way to keep it from behaving like a bomb.

There's really two things that are of issue.

#1 - I can't find a way to get the Laser/optical MFD to come up without adding a weapon that uses its avionics/weapon type.

#2 - If I add the weapon, I can't find a way to not have it drop like a bomb. The only way I can get the proper MFD up is to call it a GBU. But then, it drops like a GBU. The LANTIRN should not drop, but I can't find a way to make it behave with the avionics the GBU currently has, without dropping.

What we need to able to do is make the LANTIRN act like a GBU currently acts, AFTER you have dropped the weapon. The optical MFD is still available.

Then, we could use the LANTIRN to designate the target, switch to the GBU, change it to SLAVE, and then you can fire.

I realize that Falcon 4, (for simplicity) integrated this into the GBU, in that it behaves as if you already have a FLIR/LANTIRN pod loaded. It would be nice, though, to attempt to make delivery work as intended.

I experimented with this too and actually got it to work pretty well, but unfortunately I had to reinstall F4 and lost the data. I'm not sure about the GBU problem, I think it was somewhere in "weapon type" or something like that...sorry, can't be more precise at the moment.

I don't know didly about programing,but how will you get LANTIRN's night vision in the HUD and TFR functionality without altering the S/C?

Yeah, that's the problem and we have no way of implementing this unless we modify the SC. For now the LANTIRN is limited to the MFDs, unfortunately (and this requires only some easy tinkering in f4browse)

This, (a fully functional LANTIRN system) and 3D fluffy clouds (of all types) and rain are what I am really waiting for from the S/C development. Stolen or not, these will be dam tempting.

(BTW, I assume that all the tactical issues re: bubble, realisim etc as well as the perfection of the fly any plane avionics /weapons/flightmodel/cockpits will be adressed as a matter of course, which is why I didn't mention them)

It's only a matter of time..
