Additional info what could be useful:
"The Spitfire 21 was the final variant of the Spitfire to see wartime service. Reaching squadrons in March of 1945, it never engaged in air to air combat; its use being limited at this stage of the war against Germany to a few fighter sweeps over Europe. The only actual combat recorded was when a pair of aircraft from No 91 squadron strafed and disabled a German midget submarine off of the coast of Holland. A few days later the war was over and the massive orders for this aircraft were drastically cut (from the original 3000 ordered, an eventual total of 120 were built)"

Hi, pal!! The Spit XXI had been employed a little bit more than you explained, but never reached more than 2 squads. I did one that you can find at Aces Over Gyn page, in the link SkinsII - RAF! It's worth to have!!

Hi C.W.
The info that I have is 91 sqn (Ludham Norfolk Spring 1945) was the only Sqn to employ the Mk 21 operationally before the wars end. It flew armed recon missions over NW Europe and anti-shipping missions. Markings were DL-x, sky band and spinner.

Hussar, I took a look in my books and the other Squadron wich used the Spit XXI, the 41Sqdn, recieved them too late to see active service in the war - you're wright, thank you!

No problem C.W.

Lovely airplane, one of the prettiest of all time. I have built several R/C models of it. They all flew well.

Cheers Hus...

Hussar, have you seen my Spit XXI already? You can find it at Aces Over Gyn. Using ECA and some ship attack, that is great!
