Boy, I really love the way you can view everything (amongst A LOT of other things). And so quick! I was on a recon mission. Looking at the map I saw I would fly over a friendly FARP. I also saw enemy choppers flying towards that FARP. My X was still way ahead so I enabled the AP, went to the map, clicked on the AA on the FARP and went to the cinematic view. I didn't really use those viewing options unil now: I was far too busy winning the campaign (well, trying to...). Everything looked nice but rather quiet and static. When I looked at the map once more I saw the enemy getting closer. Then I heard someone say: "We are under attack (or something like that) at grid 05 19" (or something like that). That was the spot I was looking at! I never payed much attention to all that chatter, but it's really correct! They don't just say anything! So I went to the cinematic view again and yes, some Hinds were firing at our FARP! And they were firing back. It looked great. Suddenly I saw a single chopper in the background, flying from left to right. Sh*t! That had to be me! So I quickly jumped into my chopper, looked right and yes, there was the battle going on! Time went by so quick that I already reached the FARP! So I loaded my Stingers and fought along with my fellow soldiers. Ah, man, this game is great. Awesome. It's like really being there. I just love the features Razorworks put into this game. It's all so incredible immersive. And they did it really well. You can switch from any view to another instantly. You can fly your own mission and view another on the map screen without delay: no rattling HD or loading screens. Razorworks really did a hell of a job. This is the best helo sim there is. I can't believe any serious gamer giving high points to Gunshit! Sorry for talking so much, but I just can't stop talking (for instance about the very nice crew view (useless but nice!). Or the GREAT radar setup: I love the possibility of a single sweep. And that a destroyed target doesn't magically disappear from the radar: you have to wait for the next sweep! Great! And the way they've mapped the TADS controls at the right of the keyboard: just right! Very easy to use. And you can use them any time, no matter what view you use! And.. and... and... and...

You said it. It's amazing. I still think GS beats it for pyrotechnics and dynamic ground units that are always moving and trying to hide, as well as for vegetation-based masking opportunities (not a phrase you get to use in real life very much ), but on the whole EECH beats anything else out there by a huge margin, in nearly every department except the few I mentioned above. The colossal array of view options - padlocks, external, action, crew, and so on, is incredible, and the fact that it "remembers" the last one used in each basic category is great. What an achievement by Razorworks!

Also apart from the F12 menu , while in the map just click on a unit and see in a small window (click view) or camera for full screen.
Also things like the log which shows u the most recent important events again with live feed.

I love the attention for detail in this sim.

Take a look at a stationary soldier for a while and you will notice he does something everybody likes to do now and again The tank commander pops out of his hatch to fire the machine gun at you. They even modeled the inside of the transport aircraft and choppers.

It reminds me of when I first played Tornado, that whas also a detailed sim (for it's time)

Yeah, Spawn, that was the method I used and refered to: it's extremely easy! The F12 key is a bit more complicated. The nice thing is the the little view window is remebered also! So with one hit on the Enter key you can switch from the cockpit to the action you want to follow. Without any delay... Better stop now... Getting wet again...

You guys make me want to go out and buy this sim YESTERDAY, but alas I am in the continental US. EECH hasn't been released here yet. A couple of you guys sound like fellwo Americans, so where did you get your copy? Did you order the UK version? If you did would it be a better idea for me to wait until this game releases in the states, in order to get the patch? I've got a creative annhielator just waiting to run this game! What do ya think?

im in the uk but try http://www.interactcd.com/
It shouldnt matter what version, as with Apache Havoc the UK version was patched to become the US version so i imagine the US box vesion will be the same.
It's not like CH is a game which really needs a patch , the patch will deal with some minor issues, CH doesnt have any show-stoppers.

Could someone explain how you "select" a unit on the map and then are able to view it in the gameworld. I must be dense or something because I can't seem to get it to work other than using the F12 menu.

Thanks in advance.

Just click on it on the map screen, a small map window will come up with some view options below it. Be aware, this only works for friendly units.
