I have images displayed at my website. The entire F4.0 tile set will be finished tomorrow (March 11) since I still need to finish rivers and mountains. The images are on my Falcon 4.0 Cockpit Page so don't get scared by the modern technology you see there (hehe) .

Shatterer-Looks great. I've never played Falcon 4.0 (hate jet sims), but I like the terrain, particularly the rich green of the color. Good work!

Thanks Gen Savage,
While Falcon 4.0 is arguably the best modern jet sim out there, EAW is undoubtably the best of the pre-modern combat sims . I enjoy them both and fly no others.

Shatterer,

The terrain looks really good, but your Bf-109G6, the Ju-88 and that P-51D need a new paint. Try some nice new aircraft skins for an even better look.

If it's anything like your 1024 cockpit (which is my favorite) I'm sure it will be great.

SOW: WOW! That looks really good. Having never played Falcon 4.0, I'm curious, what part of the World do these tiles come from or are they supposed to represent? I hate to be the devil's advocate here, as your work is truly outstanding, but the terrain doesn't look like Europe of the early 1940's. Purists may have an issue with that, but, I personally can't wait to try it out. GREAT WORK!

Hi Emil,
I have tons of skins for the Desert settings and the Pacific but I am still using the defaults for Europe. I really need to get those changes .

Gambler,
This terrain only took about 2 days to do as opposed to the three months it took to do the cockpit. It surprisingly isn't taking too long to do the conversions although there is a fair amount of airbrush work in Paint Shop Pro to contend with. Falcon 4 only uses 128x128 tiles while EAW uses 256x256. This means that I have to use 4 F4.0 tiles to create one EAW tile.

The terrain is working out well but EAW is lousy when it comes to getting rid of terrain shimmering effects. There is a lot of terrain shimmering with this tile set due to the thin lines between fields. Otherwise it looks pretty good.

Spatterpunk,
This terrain represents Korea. I could release this tile set as an Asian mainland set (China, Burma). I'm not sure . I could do what Jay did with the Pacific and have large areas of foresty vegetation with little islands of fields.

I'm not really familiar with the geography around the Far East Asian mainland. I can't physically change the elevation data for mountains but I can perhaps manipulate the scenery so that larger amounts of foresty area shows up (forest, jungles, etc) like Jay did for Pacific water in his tile set.

Any ideas out there concerning how I might be able to tweak these tiles so that an area like China could be depicted? I would need to know types of terrain and terrain ratios.

SOW,

I love the terrain from what I've seen of it, but a quick question. In Falcon 4 one of the neat features when "Mud Moving" is flying low and following the ground terrain contours. How is your terrain as far as modeling the 3d effects of the landscape. Are all those hills and valleys from Falcon 4 really there, or is the terrain just colored like Falcon 4 and is it flattened out?

Sounds good.
A new terrain exclusively designed for a new BOB aka "Battle of Burma"! Soon we will have all the planes for the Burma theatre: P-40 Warhawk (we still need some Chinese AVG insignia), Hurricane II, Oscar, Nick
Still no sign of the Ki-43 Oscar and Ki-45 Nick on Cord's site
Is someone working on a Ki-21 Sally?

Hi NJG88_Greywolf,
So far as I know none of the terrian guys who have done tiles sets have been able to actually manipulate the map in any way. All we can really do is change the look of the tiles.
