I've noticed that when you lock someone up even with a "passive" system the enemy gets a lockup warning.. WTF is going on?

If you use a passive system such as FLIR/DTV/Helmet, to lock a radar guided weapon, they will get a warning when the weapons onboard radar switches on.

I've tested with some other Pride members and found that even if you don't have a weapon selected they still get a warning.

Went through FLIR, DTV, HIDSS and all the same.. always a warning on lockon.

It is one of those gameplay concessions that is made to make up for the total lack of SA that comes with a game. I can’t see many people wanting to play multiplay if they were being dropped from the sky with no warning over and over. Try to think of it as having one of your wingmen spotting the threat and warning you.

I discovered this last night also. The problem is that if you look at the cockpit displays, regardless of the system being used, the laser will always be on until you switch that system off. Proof of this came last night. I was hiding behind a building, I switched on the FLIR to get a look of the field. I started getting shot at. Ducked down behind the building, switched the FLIR off, and went around and came back behind the same building. I popped up and nothing happened until I started the FLIR back up, then a few seconds later, the radars started locking me up.

What good are the passive systems then? Why not just light myself up with radar?

I have never seen the problem of the enemy AI seeing you with the passive systems. I have used them against the AI without these sorts of problems.

Anyone else seen this with the AI?

Yes, please see the above postings. I even replicated the problem again last night. Talk about adding a new dimension to a sim. This is awesome.

No enemy reaction unless I am firing my weapon.
As I am often using passive systems, SAMs are starting to be active when fired at, not when I lock them.
Might only be affecting human players...
