What does it mean in game terms, if anything, when you see aircraft flying around with no mission status or objective attached to them? For example, I have been waiting for missions to be assigned in my Lebanon campaign, but they are slow in coming - fuel and ammo are in short supply at many bases and FARPs. However, over at FARP 6 (which coincidentally or not, had 99% fuel but only 10% ammo, I think) there appeared to be some sort of helicopter rodeo going on - numerous choppers with no assigned missions, including several Ka-52s (which I could not assume control of), just orbiting the FARP.

Does this mean anything or is it a bug (or both)? Again, the info bar at the bottom of the screen gives the callsign and vehicle type, but nothing else. Same with the display in the campaign interface - list of aircraft going by the callsign and their home base, but no mission objective or status. Thanks for any insights!

Did you notice if any landing pads were available? Just a guess, but they could be waiting for one to open up and since they were, possibly, returning to the FARP with a 'Mission Complete', you wouldn't have been able to take over the flight.

Ah, that's possible. I wonder if the "returning" description in the info bar disappears when the aircraft reaches the base but has not yet actually landed - I'll have to check. Thanks!

It means they are in the triangular holding pattern.

At busy sites, this can become quite a log-jam.

Well they must have refueled in the air, because in my Cuban campaign they've been "dancing" around the base, for the last two days !!!
