Well folks, perhaps I'll stir up a little anticipation for ECA Panel 1.5's upcoming release . I just finished up a really fun mission. It was a ground-attack on Deelen, going after their Air-Traffic Control tower. I dropped my bombs on their runway, then strafed out the Tower. After that, I proceeded to dogfight with the Ju-88s that had decided to attack. After an intense turning battle where I ended up shooting down 2 Junkers (I suspect my gunner shot down another one) it was off on a cross-country strafing trip. On the way home I think I got something like 4 radar towers, 2 radar stations, 3 truck convoys, 3 trains (one was just empty flatbeds, but the other two had Panzers loaded up), and assorted small stuff like an Oil Storage. I finally ran out of ammunition (darn the Invader packs a lot of it ) and flew back to England to discover a score of 2305. Sadly, I got only a bar added to my DFC, but I'm still in pursuit of a Silver Star or the big CMOH!

Hope this whets your appetite for Charles Gunst's latest,

Is the 3D model correct for the A-26? Or is it a repainted Marauder? As long as the mission profiles are correct I don't really mind...

Sounds cool...

Ross,

It is as accurate a flightmodel as can be attained. Charles Gunst is the expert on that, though. Anyway, using ECA Panel 1.5 you'll be able to replace the B-26 with the A-26, and switch back and forth. The physical or visual model is still the Marauder, though.

I don't know how correct you could make the mission profiles. The problem with all ECA a/c is that occasionally you'll get "Fighter Sweep" or "Escort" missions, and then you just have to deal with it, it's a fact of the game. If you could clarify, I'm sure I (or more likely Charles, he's the man behind this) could try to help.

Good luck,

Yeah, it's the "escort" missions that get me when trying out the twin engine allied stuff with ECA 1.4. Also the fact that you run into a big *** gaggle of fighters on every trip, which almost guarantees a short lived career. A-26's assumed much the same role as the B-26 when it arrived in the theatre, tactical bombing, bridges and various installations and whatnot. More strafing profiles in that they are better equipped for it, too. Their use was pretty limited, though, as they arrived late in the war.

As long as the fight model approximates the Invader, that's cool. I just wish someone was able to crack the 3D modelling and give us planeshapes. But it really is the flying that counts.

Thanks for the info,

~Ross

Ja Herr Collision, that is something we'd all like to see. Oh and BTW fill out the Input Needed questionaire when you have the time, it looks like Herr MattM is putting the data from that in a more organized space as well as with his enhancements thread. And tell your friends.

Also I was thumbing through a book today and realised that all it would take to make a more or less accurate Wellington and Halifax would be exchanging the Marauder nose onto a Liberator body for the Halifax and the Liberator nose onto Maruader for the body for a Wellington. Which can't just be done with skins unfortunately.
