Hello regazzo! Yes, hello because Ugo Drago famous Italian Ace is here now and to make all you peoples flying the terribile inglese and americano machines so jealous you spit!

Here is Ugo's beautiful Folgore 202 and more...

http://members.xoom.com/ugodrago/mc202.htm

Ugo is flying against your pietoso Spitfire 1a (Fuoco dello sputo) and Hurricane (Uragano) using the mediterranean textures (Greece) in his bello Folgore.

Is anyone else is interested in creating the fleet of Reggia Aeronautica for EAW? I have some ideas on my web page for some skins:

But not the time to make them all

Come on you USAAF and RAF vigliacchi! Into your cockpits! Ugo gives you the thumb to the teeth!!

Saluto, you with the pazzesco name, (get a real man's name is my first advice amico!) and learn to spit when you say "alleati"...

It is a strange country Greece. From 10,000 feet it look like, well, the Greece. But from 500 feet it look like France

And so what mio brave pilota?! Better to fly in Greece and land in France, no, yes? Who care? Both have good cafes!

Come amico, drink with me, sing with me!

Oh good. A new lunatic joins the asylum. Just when things were calming down again!

Rommel: I think there are still only the long range tiles for Med scenery, not the close up tiles (is that what the post above says? sorry if I am repeating) If anyone has made new Med tiles I haven't seen them.

Ugo: I think the 109K looks more like the Folgore than the 109G. Why did you use the G, and why did you tweak the flight characteristics to to make the 109G more like the Spit? Surely more like a Hurricane would have been more appropriate...

Just some interested questions, not criticisms!

And a suggestion to add to your wish list. You could make a North Africa scenario if you could paint something resembling a P40(Tiffie would be your only shot). I've seen a desert Hurrican skin. You could also d/l the desert 109 desert skins and fly combined axis sorties...

Ah, good to see, two reasons to keep visiting the EAW forum

1) Just when you thought it was going to get all 'normal and boring', along comes another fruitloop.

2) And he's a CFS fan too, as he admits on his site.

Welcome to the EAW forum, fellow CFSer Drago! Don't be afraid to admit youre a CFSer matey - these people may be one-eyed but that eye is at least open!

Krash, my visibly pericoloso amico...

The nose on the EAW 109K is too long to look like the Folgore. I thought of the Hurricane because of its 'humpy' back is a bit like the Folgore and other Reggia Aeronautica planes but it lacks the frightening beauty. And the Hurricane is not a good copy for the flight model of the Folgore because the Folgore could outmanoevre the early Hurricane - it could turn with the Spit, but it was badly outgunned.

Bambino d'un lupo!! You know those kills were your so 'mighty' RAF and USAAF. How do you think your snivelling karabinieri felt when they saw THIS thundering over them...

Tailspin,

The EAW-Med terrain file from this site's ftp server seems to be incomplete. The "background" scenery looks arid but the "foreground" terrain tiles are just as green as the standard terrain. Is this really what was intended originally?

Is there any other source for this mod? If so, please post the address. I was selected to beta test Desert Fighters just before it was canned [ Grrr! :-( ]. It would at least be some consolation to fly low over the sandy coast of DOVER ;-)

Thanx,
Kurt

Look at this pic
it shows the foreground to be Med. terrain. Are you using this link to download those files? ftp://ftp.combatsim.com/downloads/eaw/eaw-med.zip I downloaded it and tried it and found it to work. I would post my own pic but I don't have web site from which to link it. Do you have any other terrain files installed? If so did you make sure to copy over them? Is the size of the eaw-med.zip you download from here 920kbs? Hope this helps..

Thanks for the rescue VonM. In the interest of helping...I was actually digging through all the old posts to find the originator of the terrain! Must have been pre-new forum?

It goes like this: "For sale! Italian riffles, never used, only dropped once!"

VonM, Tailspin (nice name Tailspin, you could getta job in Reggia Aeronautica a name like that) Please excuse if Ugo was not clear about the flying over Greece and landing in France...I too see the change in the tiles from Med to Normal EAW at close range. I have not been able to find any Med terrain that covers both resolutions...and my download was from combatsim.com link.

So who is the gentleperson to thank for what we have...and may we ask that they stop whatever they is doing instead and get back on the job!?

Ugo Drago Italian Ace and Poet

PS Uno problemmo with these forum is now they delete all posts that is not received a reply in 20 days...so much wisdom down the toilet! Is a shame.

von M,

Yes, that is the source of the eaw-med file I'm using. It is 919kb (941,450 bytes) and consists of 64 *.ter files and one readme file. I deleted all *.ter files from my main EAW directory prior to installing the Med terrain files and got the result I described above. Actually I've done this several times now - still no joy.

Tailspin,

Yes, the Med terrain download pre-dates this version of the message forum.

Any other suggestions?

That joke about the Italian rifles reminds me of a joke about the French... something to the effect that they have five gears on their tanks. The first four are reverse, and the fifth is forward - just in case they get attacked from behind .

Sorry, politically incorrect but funny nonetheless .

Ahhh, I am wrong, the files on CombatSim are incomplete, they do not contain the files starting with BN (designating the high res terrain files) they only contain the LR starting files (designating the low res terrian files) Sorry for raising any hopes, but just checked that now with information from PIXPAC.

Ugo Drago...The name comes from my early experiences with EAW. Bought the game and jumped in the cockpit of the P-51 and took off. =8^O I got an education in spin recovery real quick! Those terrain files are probably on somebodys hoempage. I even looked through some "skin" sites??
