A new version will be coming out pretty soon. New planes in this version will be the P-38L, Spitfire V, and Macchi
C.202. The 202 might get delayed as I've been having a few problems with it. There's been some bug fixes, HT wrote
an auto take-off function for newbies and some other minor features that I can't think of.

Superfly finished the M-16 and went to work on a Typhoon Ib to complement the ground vehicles. I think he finished the
external shape today. As soon as Natedog finishes the P-38, he's going to make a tank- probably a late model Panzer
IV.

We've also been working on a system for down the road that will let us introduce some of the really exceptional
late-war planes without throwing the main arena play balance out of whack or being real restrictive.

I'm starting a design for our first test scenario. It'll be fairly simple but should be a lot of fun. I also need to start on some
weekly special events as well.

We're going to need to start a closed beta for the terrain editor soon. I would like to wait one more version before
doing that, but whenever the time comes, we'll put out the word for volunteers.

Ripsnort,
Are you a trainer in AH? There was a long discussion about training and ACM stuff here. Could you post something about that?
I'd like to know, also, if you have a home page whit gun camera showing all ACM/BFM manouvers.

Thanks,

Hey, Ripsnort. I have been reading the boards at both AH and Warbirds trying to decide which to join. I am currently leaning toward WB because of the HA and the "real world" geography. I am not interested in "Quakebirds" or "Quake high" type games. Any thoughts on when something like the HA and scenarios/scenario lites might be available in AH?

Those HA ones in WBs are something else. One doesn't get to see the enemy kites until they are damn near on you. I forget the distance when the visual clues kick in but it's not that far. One night I tried two bomber attacks in a JU88 with two 109s running escort for me. Took off from N France, got over the English coast, & was bounced by some bird in a Hurrie. My escorts or I never saw him until the damage was done. I went down & they never found him to press home their attacks. Even on our second mission when we were expecting him/her, the same set up & the same results. We gave up & I went to bed.
FWIW,
Good Hunting!

It is accounts like that that have me leaning toward WB. I really wan't a more historicly accurate game, and I don't know if AH has this or plans to have it. I prefer AH offline, because of the planes, but the physics are really lacking, especially in terms of ground collisions. Hitech and the crew are off to a great start, though. But I want to spend money right now, however, and it looks like only Warbirds is capable of providing the game I am looking for.

AH has a special events arena now for scenarios and at few days ago took place in Main Arena a little scenario: the 8th AF against the Luftwaffe.
You could read about it at: http://www.hitechcreations.com/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000008.html http://www.hitechcreations.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001841.html
And see movies and pics of this event at http://users.andara.com/~sconrad/screens.htm

Regard realism questions, I do like the air combat in AH cause it starts at 20k or 25k. Not at 10k like WB . At this altitude, it's very easy a recriation of historical combats. For instance, I need to learn how to fly the 109 cause the Fw190 ( my favorite ) is very bad at 25k
One more word, otto does not play a role in AH, so, you only face human opponents, not buffs whit AI gunners

Gramma

Sorry my english

Hi Guys,
Yes, I'm part of the training staff, Gramma has some good links above to what is going on...I liked Warbirds too when I played, but became bored with it. After flying AH, and then going back to Warbirds in offline play(realistic FM) the WB's FM seems kinda arcadish now. One thing is certain, I cannot put an A/C in WB's into an inverted flat spin (unless I'm missing a wing) but you can do so in AH.

There are pro's and con's to both games, AH being much smaller in terrains/Aircraft, simply because its new...however, AH will have vehicles soon, including tanks, and new planes are added every month.

Best thing to do is download both, analyze them both, and chose to your tastes!

Well spoken Ripsnort.Having tried WB for 3 yrs and AH for about 6 months<Iagree that AH rocks for the state of infancy it is in! However, WB (to my taste) still has the better (feeling of flight). And believe me ,I have no reason to support 1 over the other-just my opinion here. Both are outstanding sims AND getting better all the time. What a great time for WW2 air-combat enthusiasts-A number of competing products just keeps raising the bar!Cant wait to see if B-17 2 will have the flight model excellence to match its graphic excellence. If so the bar is about to go up another notch!
God I love this **** -By-Tor out
