I just got the game so I haven't had time to read the manual...but, after a couple of training missions my question is how come when you are coming in for a landing you loose the ability to adjust your speed with your throttle, this happens when you are just a couple of miles from touchdown on land or the USS R.R. Is it a bug or is there an override that must be switched on ?

It bugs the heck out of me too. Try Control+A. It disables the auto pilot landing sequence. (Good Luck) :-)

Disable the auto-throttle in the config set-up.
