For any of you planning on buying this sim, READ THE POSTS.

-No 2-D cockpit like the one on the box.
-Problems running 1024x768 with Geforce card, latest drivers and directx.
-Annoying speech
-The list goes on.

I gave it a good day worth of flying and decided to stick with Janes.

Oh Great! Now you tell me

I just ordered it, I'll just use it for "play", and keep Janes for serious "Horneting"

Hey XOrionFE,
I just got the sim and I like it quite a bit
I also am using the ASUS 6800-DDR Geforce at
1024x768 with out a glitch.
I am using the Nvidias drivers though as oppossed to ASUS' drivers which for some un-
known reason did not like my system ???
But so far so good :-)

Works fine with my GeForce SDR and 320 MB. BTW, I just upgraded my memory (from 128 MEG) and DISH loads missions in about 5 seconds

Well bought it today. I have been looking it over for about 2 hrs now trying to find something good about it. Fact is it's gawd awfull.
From the CBSIM preview i expected bad terrain graphics. But this heap is graphically horrid from one end to the other. It's comedic in a sad way at points as the female voice says bingo over and over and over. even the water is bad. It looks like rotton foam rubber painted blue. The afterburner sounds as if someone got ahold of a cheap tape recorder, and pointed a shower head at the shower curtain and captured that sound of power. Ahh well. Live and learn.

I won both JF18 and DISH and I like both games for different reasons. True that Terrain and weapons modeling is not that good in DISH, but carrier ops and their 2D cockpit is second to none. And the fact that there is a chance of a dynamic campaign coming out means this could be the complete F-18 game. I don't like having to buy three separate games to get the final DISH but maybe that's the only way hardcore sims can stay in business. Anyway, that's my two cents

Blond Knight:

I got Super Hornet last week.

So far, it runs perfectly on my P500, 128 MB, Voodoo3 machine. It looks good and it's twice as fast and smooth as Jane's.

No crashes, no lock-ups of any sort.

IMHO, the graphics are great. The terrain, sky effects and carrier activity make Jane's look like a dark muddy mess.

Jane's certainly has its strong points. But I'd be surprised if, after trying both, you had no desire to keep flying Super Hornet. Like many around here, you might wind up flying both!

Good hunting.

Casey, I had read several message board posts on many sites saying jf18 was bad, but it's hard to imaging worse graphics than dish. In my opinion about the only thing that is rendered well is the aircraft external view, and as soon as you leave the carrier ir is all downhill eyecandy wise. The framerates suck at 1024x768, and you get nothing in return for the higher resolution except grainy washed out crayola scenery.
hehe even though the game now comes with a fll sized keybpoard map card, even it is hard to read, and the keyboard commands are well, just plain weird and unlike any other flight sim i have flown.
I will still fly it for awhile to see if I can find some stuff to enjoy. I don't want to be unfair, but dish just doesn't live up to todays expectations. there are 2 year old sims out there will graphics that kick dish's *** .

I just bought DISH a few nights ago. I also own Janes F/A-18 as well. On my system, DISH runs great!!!! Much better than Janes and my system in not even up to today's standard. I do not have a program that counts FPS, but it seems very smooth and looks good at 1024*768 (at least to me). Granted the ground textures are a little bland, but I spend most of my time in the cockpit anyway with all the system functions, not really looking out the window. I also did have a problem with the dark ground textures, but I moved the gamma level up in the config and it looks much better now.

Cel 300A (not overclocked)
128 PC100 RAM
Banshee Video Card
SB Live

A wimpy system, but it gets the job done...hehe until I upgrade soon.

I, for one, am pleased with getting DISH. Not having a campaign does stink somewhat, but it is something I personally, can live with not having right one right now.

I do have 1 complaint so far...what was the guy on who picked the keyboard commands layout. Hhhmmm...I wonder...
