I am in the process of building a homebuilt F-18 E superhornet cockpit for playing simulations like DISH or JF-18. I have already built a generic cockpit before and i have started building an F-16 pit (http://www.homestead.com/skyjackcombatfs/cockpit.html) but quitted when i decided that what i really wanted was to make an F-18 cockpit eventually with a motion platform (see http://www.simcraft.com/, or http://www.crosswinds.net/~vmar/109index.html).
For the material i have already acquired an epic card (http://www.cris.com/~Rrelect/) and an HOTAS from Suncom (http://www.suncominc.com/) and i will buy instrument panels from AGT (http://home.att.net/~sfinger/home.html)
I learned roughly how the instruments work with the games DISH (http://www.superhornet.com/) and JF-18 (http://www.janes.ea.com/) and i have found various pictures of the cockpit on http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/fa-18-ef-cockpit.jpg http://desktopsims.com/f182.htm http://home.att.net/~sfinger/f18image.htm http://pookieweb.dyndns.org:61127/f18_pics.htm http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/
I also have a very high resolution picture of the F-18 front console (of 6,70 MB)
WHAT I AM NOW LOOKING FOR IS THE EXACT (OR ROUGH) DIMENSIONS OF THE COCKPIT OF THE F-18E (OR ONE OF THE OTHER F-18 MODELS) AND ALL ITS PARTS (THE SEAT, THE SIDE CONSOLES, FRONT CONSOLE, ETC …).
I am looking for something like the plans Martin Schmitt gives for the F-16 on http://www.xflight.de/f16/ under the chapter pläne, or http://www.cyberramp.net/~habu/sims/pc-0a.htm. These two sites are an excellent example of what i am looking for but unfortunately they are about the F-16 and not the F-18. In my knowledge there still is nobody who has done such a project on the F-18.
IF YOU HAVE THE DIMENSIONS OF AN F-18 PIT, OR YOU KNOW WHERE OR FROM WHO I COULD GET THEM, PLEASE CONTACT ME !!! I am also interested in books that you know that would be helpful or scale-models of F-18 cockpits (i know that there are F-16 cockpit scale models http://www.cyberramp.net/~habu/sims/pc-00.htm)
Thanks in advance,
Philippe “Skyjack” Malcolm
