You guys have convinced me about fly and I am going to buy it tomorrow. I was on the Fly website yesterday while downloading the patch and now I have two more questions. What exactly is the Sky! add-on and what does it do? What exactly is the runway add-on and what does it do? Thanks Fubar P.S. One of my friends is buying a $159 Voodoo 3 just so he can play Fly on his system!

Fubar-Here is the web site for both Sky! and the runway add-ons. http://www.howintheworld.com/ They are both free and you can download them there or at www.avsim.com if I remember correctly. ------------------ Moorthane Accidents are only unexplained probabilities

Fubar,I have FU3, MSFS2K and FLY! I only fly FLY! these days. Its so good looking and getting better and better. Last night I d/l 100mb of Reno area scenery. Awesome. I also have the Grand Canyon scenery. Just spectacular. Almost photo realistic. I may post a few pictures. Then theres the planes that are starting to come out. I have this stunt plane now that I landed within CandleStick Park stadium. What MSFS2K now does, which I hope FLY! designer get around to doing, is they now have cockpit lights that show up at night from the exteriour view. Very nice. The addons to get for fly are: 1. SKY! adds clouds formation and weather and launches the game in a fast easy to use manner. 2. Enviro! adds ATC chatter wav files so that when youre flying around it sounds like real ATC and youre not alone. Can be used with any sim really. 3. Metlar Thin Adds an interface to real time weather updates to the sim engine. 4. Runway texs Adds new texture choices to the ugly landing strip graphics. Some with cement pavement, tar pavement, some with oil stains etc. No big deal really. 5. Nitelite Adds night lights to the airport areas when flying at night. It does take a toll on the frame rate. But the real things are the planes and scenery. Thats where the fun is. Soon there will be some great places in satelite detail for: Hawaii Italy Germany Neatherlands and many more With the designer tool kit, we have alot of good planes and scenery coming our way. Much like the MSFS folks do, but with an even better graphics and flight engine IMHO. I suggest not paying that much for a V3. Go to: http://www.pricewatch.com and find them for about 100 bucks with shipping. Caveot is the return policies. So caveot emptor (buyer beware) when it comes to buying anything online. I plan to make a multiplayer home for FLY! pilots in the near future, so stay tuned. AV8R

I just bought FLY! recently and love it. I took off from MLU (Monroe, Louisiana, my hometown) and went to a small airport in Bastrop, La. The scenery was terrific - very accurate - just as I remember flying around in my dad's plane 20 years ago.One thing that I love about FLY!, and this sounds really silly, is that the little hours counter works - so that you can track how many hours that you have in a particular plane - cool. I wonder if it is possible to back this file up - any ideas? Thomas, where can you get the Enviro! Metlar Thin, and Hawaii scenery add ons? I looked at howintheworld, but they're not there. I understand that in April, there will be a "Fly 2000" upgrade that will be released free of charge to all currently registered users of FLY! Anyone know more about that status of this?

Yo Tomas,I have a Voodoo 3 3000. I want to use the sky program, but the readme file says that using anything less than a 32bit video board looks like kaa kaa and the author doesn't recommend it. Is this true, should I not even bother until I 'upgrade' (sounds funny considering how much I like my current card and how fast it is!), or will the clouds look pretty cool with the Voodoo 3? Also, I just downloaded the Grand Canyon scenery (in a word: Awesome!!), but on my Celeron 466 with 128 megs of PC100 Ram and a Voodoo3 3k on a Win98SE box I got FOUR frames a second! That was unheard of, I got even better framerates on FU3 with the graphics maxxed. The flight actually eventually crashed, it was like something else was running in the background, becuase unlike all the other times, the framerate stayed 'locked' in at 4 FPS, whereas in other flights, the FPS floats all over the place. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance for your answers! Grundman

Is this true, AV: I ran FLY! fine on a P2 400 with V2 and it was flyable. I do have that computer with a V3 now (my wife inherited it). I can go check. (128mb Ram) AV: But now I fly on a 550mhz 256MB Ram, with GeForce DDR with all the game maxed out. At 32 bits this game looks SUPER. At 16bit its still good, just in DX the clouds are not as puffy. You can see the bit layers if you know what I mean. But in Glide that might be a different story. should I not even bother until I 'upgrade' (sounds funny considering how much I like my current card and how fast it is!), or will the clouds look pretty cool with the Voodoo 3? AV: Upgrade your system? You can get Celeron 466s that OC to 800mhz. Cheap too. Go to Tomshardware.com and sniff around. Any Ideas? AV: Try closing all other programs when you fly a sim. Also consider CACHEMAN as a tool to optimize your system cacheing. Just look for it under the post here where I asked about my Annihilator Pro and MSFS2K. Thanks in advance for your answers! AV: Good luck, hope you can fly FLY! AV8R Grundman
