There is a slight problem with the MS VR program which comes with USAF. My system spec is

PIII 500MHz
3Dfx V3 3000
256 SDRAM
32X CD-ROM
9.1GB 7,200 rpm Hard Disk

I shoot the resolution up to 1600x1200 it works glass smooth at, I guess at least 50fps that' okay. But once I use the voice commands, it goes smoothly for a while. But after half an hour of continuous playing, it doesn't respond at all. And everytime I press <Cap Lock> since then, it slows down the game motion.

But anyway, USAF is a great simulation. If I may, compared with Falcon 4.0; my feeling changes. I used to be a Falcon 4.0 believer. But just talk about the object shading, you will find USAF does the job very well. The light reflection on the metallic surface of the aircraft really changes with its motion. The other thing is the simulation of counter measure. In Falcon 4.0, you can hardly evade missiles even you drop whole hell of flares and chaffs; but in USAF, provided that you manage the maneuver and release chaff and flare at the right moment, you can always save billions of dollars. Another new feature which is brilliant is the voice command though it's still scratchy. Not everyone has a full set of thrustmaster joystick with TQS. The VR feature allows, to me, wingmen command to be issued more effectively and usefully. It's quite stupid and less realistic to program these commands into a joystick instead of speaking them out. The fantastic thing is, USAF wingmen responds verbally to you which gives you a feel of realism.

Despite the cockpit of each aircraft is the exact copy of the real thing, but it contains essential elements. And the padlock does quite well.

Overally speaking, USAF first impression is GREAT!

Best regards

If you want great Voice Recognition software my recommendation is to get Game Commander. Its woth the $30 and can be used in every game you play. Its very light on resources ... in fact I cant tell the difference when Im using it and when am not ... well ... unless im asking my wingman to do something and he doesnt ... hehehe

If im not mistaken, this is MS first attempt at incorporating voice recognition into a game ... doesnt suprise me that it bogs down the game after a bit. Ive had Game Commander for months ... use it in every sim ... never had a problem with it.
