I recently mail ordered B-17, it was delivered within 3 days (seems amazing since reading other posts with delivery horrors) however the game will not run. I have a pIII 733b, 256mb rdram, gforce256. When starting the game i receive error " please insert correct disk and start prgm again". Very disappointing.

Anyone else having this problem or know of a fix, i have not been able to find any troubleshooting faqs or support (microprose.com). I'm asuming i was sent a uk version since it doesn't seem to be out in the us yet.?.?

Unfortunatly the problem still exists, the game will not load, same error, "please insert disk1 and restart game". At this point I'm leaning towards a cd-rom drive issue. I've loaded all the latest drivers for my gforce, lite-on cd drv, and sblive. I have a couple of pc's in the house and when loaded on a pIII450, 96mb ram, 32mb tnt2, the game runs fine-- S?1@#$%T. I'm am going to re-install some older games to see if I can reproduce this error eslewhere. One game I am thinking of off the top of my head is Shogun, I remember reading something about a similar error produced by this game that had to do with a 16bit cd driver ( I think?? I finished that one a while ago).

Going forward, I was thinking of purchasing a Kenwood 72x cd drive, any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Well I got the same problem as well.
My "work around" was to reboot my computer and start Windows 2000.
Yep it worked, seems to me anyway that it might have something to do with Windows millenium. I have a dual boot system with Windows millenium and Win2000.
Are you running Windows millenium ??

Magnus.

I have a lite-on cd rom drive running win98se, I'm going to re-install again and see what happens, seems like that has worked for couple of other folks.

Got B172 today here in NYC and I’m having the same problem “please insert the game CD” while it’s in the CD-ROM drive.

The weird thing is that I installed it from my primary CD-rom (F: drive in my Sys)
But the game only runs from my CD-RW (G: drive)
tried looking in the registry and noting so I just DL a NO-CD Crack and I’ll let you Know what happened.

Hi Guys, Have you tried to get your registry cleaned up? and compressed ? There are some utils that do this But I use Norton 2000 SystemWorks, and when I do that, I defrag every thing and I have never had any errors with any of my three CD drives, one is a HP 7500 Burner at x12, two is Pioneer something or other x42 the third is a DVD player at x6 and they all work for me...no errors, My hint is get HUGE swapfile if you can (2Gigs) and defrag regularly I do it every two days, but then thats me...

I downloaded an exe fix patch and the game runs no problem. Seems there is a problem with the anti piracy software they used for this game, I found a thread from one of the UK chaps who had been at this problem for a month or so, the guy went and changed/tweaked about everything to no avail- downloaded the patch and all set. Yes I use dx8 and runs great, not a bad game when you get thru the inital nightmare!! You can thank the folks at gamecopyworld for saving this one as it was about to become target practice. lol
