Have heard this on P-51 missions. If hits occur near the cockpit, you will hear shattering glass as the canopy gets hit. No good graphics, but it does get "windier" sounding after the shattering glass effect. Just a little touch.Chunx (chunx@frugalsworld.com)

Yup, have only heard it in the F-51. Fly a reconn mission with a dangerous AAA rating along the route and you're sure to hear it too. And Seoul Marshalling Yard has an effective greeting system as well. You can also hear it when engaging MiGs with the Mustang. However, the wind sound has a shorter duration. ------------------

Yup. Makes a breaking glass noise rather than a breaking plexiglass noise. Wind comes and goes. You will hear it sometimes when you rattle a mig real close. It will decrease your top speed in the F51. Go play the red fighter bomber mission and you have a good chance of loosing your canopy to those yaks. I read an account of a Canadian Sabre pilot who was shot down in Korea (they flew American Sabres - the Canadian Sabres were stationed in europe because it was thought they were needed there more!). He was diving from altitude to catch up to his lead when friendly fire blew his canopy off. His whole instrument panel exploded from the decompression. Had no choice but to bail out. Said it was really cold, and he was whipped around like a rag doll for a long time before he slowed down enough to control his arms and lose the seat, get his oxygen mask back on and pull the rip cord. They were of course right over the Yalu, though he landed south of it. Spent a couple years in a chinese pow camp, most of the time in solitary because he refused to say he had orders to cross the Yalu. The War had been over for about 8 months when they finally turned him over to British authorities in Hong Kong.

Yes, you can lose your canopy (go to an exterior view when this happens) and you can lose your "gun-sight" as well. You'll also hear the wind sound as well as a louder engine sound. I created a sound package mod (I believe it was the last one made by me) which includes a rough sounding engine when you get shot up badly. AxA http://www.FlyAndFight.com
