I have wanted to buy F2 for a while now, but havnt had the time for it. Now with 2.5 around the corner should I buy it now or wait till 2.5? Any ETA on when 2.5 will be out?

------------------
A story is told of a BUDS class standing at attention in front of a large sand berm. Suddenly one of the SEAL instructors quietly climbed to the top of the berm. There in full view of the class he shielded his eyes from the sun and stared out to sea searching the entire horizon from side to side. When he finished he walked down the hill and stood in front of the class."Does anyone know what I'm looking for?" he asked. No one replied, he paused before he spoke, "I'm looking for war."

Wait till 2.5. Not worht it right now. Go to www.flanker2.com for info on it. There is also an article on combatsim's front page (www.combatsim.com) titled "Future Flanker: 2.5 and beyond".

This sim is excellent. It is off the hook! Now that you know where I stand on keeping it, I must say that there are only a few things to consider.

(1) You get excellent fun for the price of a nice night out on the town. Do you want to sit back while everyone else is having fun. Almost every time I am stuck with the dilemma with a sim that I really like the decision to buy is the best(excepting DID's F22, TAW debacle).

(2) Developers need money. If we want to see flanker 2.5 and flanker attack, do we think they are going to pull money outta their butts to make it! No. They need my money($30:cheeeeap), your money, everyone's money who wants to see the hobby continue. Yes there are other products at the company, but sales of flanker I'm sure dictate in some amount how much effort goes into the addons. Someone has to contribute. So do NOT complain when some features are left out on the addons. I don't want to hear any lip-flap or gum poppin whining about.... I don't want to hear it.

Ultimately you can sit idly on your rumps if you want to, and I won't be mad atcha, because are all our own person. But flanker will then die the death of the untimely death of falcon4.0.

Also, some clarification need here. Is there a rebate offer for those who own the original flanker?

Take it easy,

Dane

Im 99% sure I read this in a combatsim article. There will be a "cheaper" upgrade to current Flanker 2.0 owners online.

I wonder how big a download 2.5 would be though.

I suppose you could wait for F2.5 but then you wouldn't have the Sue (neither the -27 nor -33) to fly; only the MiG-29. In addition you'd be missing out on the current fun.

Rumor has it, BTW, that F2.5 should be out sometime in mid- to late-summer. But that's a guestimate and many factors can intervene.

hmmm when you buy the full 2.5 version you will get Su27 and 33 as well as Mig29.

If you buy the addon it will add to your 2.0 the things from 2.5 (Mig29, etc)

Bandit_22,

You are, of course, correct. I was thinking of something else entirely when I wrote that only the MiG-29 would be available (and confused the two).

Does anyone know when 2.5 will be out. On the question of whether you should wait for 2.5. Depends how long you can wait. My reccomendation. Just go get 2.0 now and get 2.5 later. You will be glad you didn't wait when you fly your first mission.

There have been no firm dates given but, if things continue to go well in beta, we might be seeing it in late-summer.

But, like I said, no firm dates have been reported.
