I seem to have missed how to program a hat switch in Saitek's X36/X35 HOTAS. When I click on a hat, the button highlights but no key map comes up in the bottom of the screen like the other buttons. Can someone help?

Thanks All!

Phil

Hi Phil,

Programming the Hat's and mouse cursor require you to double click on the hat to bring up the Hat Properties window. You can do all your programming from there. Because the Hats are all 8 way hats it's not possible to program them in the Simple mode you mentioned.

For lots of information on programming the USB X36 check out my website.

Thanks for the info!

When I brought up the hat properties box I eventually came to a screen similar to the bottom window that appears with the other buttons. It seemed I should just hi-lie the existing button/icon and type a keyboard command. However, when I tried to hi-lite the figure ... it wouldn't. What did I miss?

Thanks Again!

Phil

The button that appeared was the DirectX button assignment for that position of the hat. Just right click on it and choose clear, then press the key you want programmed.

Thanks for the reply ... but I'm still having trouble.

Here's what I'm doing:
Into the editor
Choose the hat switch (on throttle)
Double-click
Goto Mode 1
Choose button, goto Properties for #16
View ... the command editor comes up
I put my cursor over the red button
I can neither hi-lite nor right click ...
nothing happens.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I'm on Win95 ans using the HOTAS thru the game port.

Thanks,
Phil
