Thanks, and I did. The Delphi forum site at http://www.delphi.com has probably the largest, most up-to-the-minute repository of things Falcon. you have to register, but it's worth it for finding patches etc. hot off of developer's hard drives. Many links can also be found in the Falcon4 forum of this very site...------------------ Bob "Groucho" Marks "Well, I've been to one world fair, a picnic, and a rodeo, and that's the stupidest thing I ever heard come over a set of earphones." -Major Kong, USAF/SAC (As played by Slim Pickens in "Dr. Strangelove")

Hello all, I have a question about the Falcon turbo program. Didn't that program come about from the stolen source code?I wonder if Combat Sims or the author of the article knows this. I don't think Combat Sims should be promoting something that was derived from stolen code. Can someone clear this up for me? If this is the case don't you all think its better that we report this type of thing to Microprose versus getting Combat Sim in trouble for promoting a program that might be from stolen code? I will send Microprose and Email just to be on the safe side of things. Maybe this is a hex edit but it seems unlikely from all thing things I am reading about the program. Concerned

This was a good article but I would like to add a few points:In your graphics settings you have the object density turned down. Bad idea for reasons I believe may have already been discussed in Froglip's article. F4 will physically display less units and hold the remainder in reserve. When you destroy the units displayed, the reserve units will magically pop into their place. Not a great idea if you plan on taking them all out in one pass. Second, I believe Benhur and Skypat released the first wide cockpit. Their original cockpit was extremely wide and Paul Wilson developed what we would now consider the "proper aspect" wide cockpit. All others have since followed in suit. All in all a good article, although after a few days it is already out of date. Just another example of how quickly things move in the world of F4.

Mr. Larry Franks, With all due respect, you should mind your own bussiness. Combatsim is a big boy and can take care of themselves. Furthermore, I'm sure they have already thought of this. Barron out [This message has been edited by Barron (edited 07-05-2000).]

Yes i am listening Widepit, maybe sometime in the future. Good article in general. Usefullness of TAC DATA etc.. mainly because yes it can be done, and it reflects the iBeta changes, the default TAC DATA accessed in the UI is now outdated, also its good for reading on long flights up north The TAC VIEW, just there as a request for people who want large MFDs and nothing else to look at, does make picking targets somewhat easier. At present cant add in the flight plan data etc.. this would be good, would though require HEX fixing etc.. Good stuff anyway, didnt sound biased towards anything. Love the swiss army knife bit Xis

Groucho,All technicalities aside, this was about the best article, and most useful article, and most needed to see article on a HUGE topic that was needed to be done. Im sure there could be 5 more and still not exhaust all the patches, enhancements and details within life after Hasbro. Honestly, Ive about given up reading CSIM articles due to the vapor thin value. But yours breathed new hope. Look forward to more from you in the future. Thomas AV8R Spann

True, but there are issues with the placement of the gauges that cannot be currently resolved. If you try the GTT cockpit you will notice that the gauges are all screwed up because they cannot be moved. Personally I use Rufus Parson's 3D cockpit.

Good article...I was unaware that the default cockpit impacted frame rate more that the newer "home brewed" versions...I'll be checking out a new cockpit...When you address "fly any plane" in your next article...please reference new cockpits being designed for the different aircraft...it would be great if someone (programmer) was able to develop an patch which automatically installed the correct cockpit for whichever plane is identified to be flown...such a patch could be implemented via the "F4Patch" program... Great Article, can't wait for the next part. I have a question for the experts though. I just got a geforce2 GTS (64mb) and when I went to the F4 setup it only gave me the option of "Display" for video card. Is that normal for this card? Also, I scoured the delphi site for the "turbo" program but couldn't find it. Anyone know where I can get it? Thanks, -Geb
