Have you folks done your Federal Taxes Yet?

You are not going to believe this:

You know the $300 or $600 the Fraud-in-Command "gave" us last year? Guess what?

YOU GOTTA GIVE IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just check out Line 47 of your 1040 Long Form (don't have the short, but I bet it's there too).

Did you really expect anything different? If thet didn't take it back directly, they would have in some other way...decrease services, cost shifting.

He told us "It's YOUR money". How many times did he say that?

Look, this is "fraud", pure and simple.

Mane,

Line 47 is a credit line, which would be used to reduce your taxes.

The worksheet on page 36 of the instructions makes it clear (as clear as a Fed form ever can be!) that only those who received no advance payment or less than they should have are to use the worksheet and make any entries in line 47. The entry would be a tax credit, reducing your overall tax by that amount.

I've heard all sorts of tales about the Feds 'taking back the payments made in 2001' but other than paying taxes on the amount, I can't see where that's the case.

I don't have my form 1040 handy, so I can't tell if the amount was included in my taxable income, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't. That means I'll have to give back about $75 in taxes. I guess that could be construed as 'Indian giving'.

Jim
