Have downloaded some new skins, but when I configure them into stab and put the skins in, I don't see them in the game. I have also done a reinstall could that have messed it up?

S! Wingman,
Where did you dump your skin files? Into the main EAW dir. or into the add-ons subfolder created by Stab? I was having the same problem about a week ago and found out that ihad been dumping my files to the wrong folder. Try opening Program files>Microprose>EAW>Add-ons>Skins>Channel Front>Summer (or whichever season you want the skins in) and put yor skin files there. Hope this helps out.

Also, after loading the skin into the appropriate terrain/season file, don't forget to "reload" the terrain in order for the changes to take effect.

Be careful Wing. I got all sorts of problems with a downloaded skin and ended up doing a complete reinstall of EAW. If I knew which one I'd tell you.

Hey Wingman, I've got the same problem!

Have only started d/loading skins to use in Stab. Been using just the terrain facility so far.

So d/loaded 2 P51 skins from Relent's site. Followed relegiously the steps in the Skins Tutorial for Stab, and when I tried to use them in the game they didn't show up.

Had a search for them and find them under
Program Files/Microprose/EAW/Addons/Flugzeugwerke.

I gather from the above that they are not supposed to be there! So, where should they be and how do I get them there?

I download skins all the time to Stab 2.2b with no problems. Download, unzip to unzipped folder and then add from unzipped with Stab configure/skins routine. When I hit add button it goes directly to my unzipped file which I search for the skin to add, open its folder and add the file. It goes to the correct location. Then go to configure terrain and select the skins I want. Never had a problem except you do need to reload the terrain to change to the newly selected skins. My only problem so far has been some of the new Russian panels cannot be used in the same terrain with Spits because they currupt the spitfire panels. Either must use all Russian or all Brit planes.

S! Pips,
Send the skins to Program files/microprose/EAW/add-ons/skins/channel front/summer. You can also send them to the pacific/med folders depending on which campaign you are flying.

All the skins reside at Flugzeugwerke. Then Stab grabs the ones you selected and puts them into the EAW folder so you will see them in the game. Also look in the Configure EAW Stab screen. There should be a box checked that says Copy Skins When Terrain Changes take effect. This means you won't see the new skin selections until you reload the terrain in which you selected the skins. Trust me, this works.

And be sure not to run the game in software-mode (for Graphics) - no skins then - and no terrain either

And what exactly have you reinstalled? Stab? EAW?

Wingman, just a quick thought, where did you download these particular skins from? Some of the excellent skins on Migge's site don't unzip directly, but instead unzip into sub-folders of their own. You have to open each of these subfolders, then move the files inside the last one into your EAW directory, or in your case, into the desired folder inside of Stab's AddOns folder.

Also, as Stan says, make sure that you "Copy Skins When Terrain Changes Take Effect" checkmarked.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I have checked the appropiate box in Configure skins.

When, General, you say reload the terrain files, do you mean simply select spring or summer etc manually? Then go into the game and fly a quick mission to see id the skins are showing? If so I did that and still had same old olive drab!

Well, that is what I had in mind. That usually works for me. When you look at the skins in the Configure Skins screen, are the ones you are trying to select there? Also, going back to the Configure EAW STab-Advanced screen-does the line for skins include .tpc files? Also, are your terrains switching properly? One other thing-is it possible you are loading the wrong terrain/season? I have 2 4-season terrains sets in stab. In Channel Front, I have Paul Wilson's terrains. I also have Jay's CFS terrains set up for 4 seasons as well. I have been known to change skins for summer when I meant spring, and then wonder why my skins don't show up when I re-load spring.

If you follow the instructions in the readme.txt u'll be fine. Now if u talking about seeing the pic in stab u need to create that on your own . If that's that u want, I'll get u a link where that was covered.
