Good Morning Gentlemen, and of course, our Lady colleagues.

I write today with just a little advice to all concerned. Whether anybody decides to heed it is a different matter, but I like to think that we are all sensible mature members on this forum.

In the reasonably short time that I have been a member here, and I'm honoured to be a member, I have noticed that we all seem to be able to sort out any differences amicably. EAW has been a game now which has been around for nearly three years (correct me if I'm wrong) I have had my copy since Christmas day 1998. As far as Flight Sims go, in my opinion, it's the best. I appreciate that others may have different opinions, and I accept that without any problem.

The reason why I feel that EAW is the best is this, the game itself has now progressed way beyond anybody's expectations. A group of people, from around the world, all with the same link - they all love to play EAW. They, We have all banded together, and turned this fantastic game into something very, very special. The skins that are available are phenomenal, the same goes for the terrains, the add-ons, everything that has been patiently made, not because we have to, its because we want to, we actually enjoy doing all this stuff. You know, I have a CD re-writer, and I have a 650Mb cd-rom that is three quarters full of all the extra's that you can get for EAW.

I have played SDOE, I enjoyed giving it a go, but personally, it did'nt ring any bells for me, and some of the points that have been made by fellow members of this forum, are I hasten to say, valid points. I have to agree that missions into deepest Germany, do seem a little odd with only three bombers. But I would like to bet that if asked, our SDOE colleagues would find fault with our beloved EAW, and I'm sure that some of their points would be valid one's.

As many of you know, or may not know, I served my country for sixteen years, first in the Parachute regiment, and then the Special Forces. I have been through two bloody wars (Falklands/Gulf) four if you include Northern Ireland and Bosnia. I have seen many men die, and probably killed a few myself. It's so much more fun, and a lot less dangerous killing your 'enemy' in a computer game.

To fall out over this my friends, is so bloody stupid! Just accept that people do have different opinions, and that this sort of silly immature sort of behaviour can tear a community apart. Attitudes and temper's on both Forums, with some members, I think need to be cooled! Come on chaps, after all, it's only a game, and everyone is entitled to their own opinions, it's what living in a free world is all about. It's something that I fought to keep, and something that Dinger died for..... remember that.

If he was still here with us, you can bet your arse that he would be the one writing this letter, instead of me. To the members of the SDOE forum, I'm prepared to accept your opinions about your flight sim, but in turn, you must be prepared to accept my opinions about our (EAW) flight sim. And both forums be prepared to accept that we may not agree with each others opinions.

Anyway, I've wibbled on long enough now. lecture is over kiddies.

regards to everyone, and all flight sim fans everywhere.

Unfortunately, you can't blame it all on the young. Some of our young have exhibited more maturity than the older members on all forums.

Good post Pathfinder. Your concerns are the same I felt when I posted this: http://www.combatsim.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/011315.html
I suppose I could have posted it in other forums, but I felt it would have went clean over their heads. It is wrong for me to think that I guess, if I heed my own post, but.....<sigh>

S! Pathfinder, bang on track with your comments mate as usual, although rather than banning some of the young 'uns maybe some of us older guys should set better example (I refer you to one of my threads this week )

Having said that...do we really need to know if you have been big and brave on someone elses forum? after all, in cyberspace we can all pretend we're something we're not in real life...right?

Oh well Ogdens. Posting a thread on the forum is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get.

Pathfinder,

I'm a member of the SDOE forum and no, SDOE is not "my sim". I don't feel like owning it or owning any rights to it or any right to be proud of any features of that software.
Some though associate themselves with those kind of things too much, it seems, hence all the conflits.
I came over here lured by a post on SDOE forum pointing here. And what I find? Another bunch of nice guys (apart from the ugly ones ) and some nice info on here, and... *BABES*!!!
Women, another war over a woman?! Naah, they've done it before, some wise guy wrote an epos (whatever), Hollywood made some bucks from it and that's it for me

Glad to see a bunch of people enjoying virtual flying apart from the SDOE crowd

Now, where's this pesky EAW CD of mine?

Pathfinder,

Thank you. I am a member of the SDOE community (have been since the day it was released) and I must say that I was ashamed by some of the attitudes a VERY small minority of the SDOE crowd displayed. I also have to say that our two communities are not very different. We both love to 'fly' and we are both very proud of the accomplishments we have made with our respective sims of choice. The challenges we face in squeezing out every last piece of creativity and performance from our sims are indeed different - but no less of a challenge for either community. I applaud the efforts of the EAW community!

I also want to make it clear to the entire EAW community that several of the more inflamatory personalities (Lucifer for example) that have appeared on the new SDOE forum here at Combatsim are NOT members of the greater SDOE community. Please keep that in mind mind when you run across the dung that they spew from their keyboards. The vast majority of SDOE community members are level-headed, respectful, flight simming people - just as the vast majority of EAW community members are.

I hope that both our communities can proceed to interact in a much more productive manner in the future, we have much to offer one another in artisitic and technical talent.

As for a certain teenager of the SDOE community who shall remain nameless in this thread (at least by me). He can be a bit exuberant, as all teens are apt to be, but he is also geneerally a good and level headed member of the community. Yes, things were said that should not have been - but that is the way of youth (and often times the aged as well) is it not? I'm sure we have all said things in our youth that in later retrospect were neither wise nor neccesary.

S!

Wow, Stark, you are a most wise individual. I want to know where ya'll get off thinking I was being immature from that FSDOE post. Come on, I wasn't saying it sucked, I was just posting the ups and downs. Second, I kept it in FSDOE forum, but Wulf dragged it over here. So don't blame me for dragging it in here. Sheesh, ya'll were once (and some may still be) young teenagers. I am very peaceful, and quite frankly, a good number of ya'll seem to be about as "immature" as you CLAIM I am. I hope those people will eventually "grow up".

Aladar none of Wulf's comments as untactful as they were would have been made if it wasn't for your initial (and current) activities here. That seems fairly plain to all.

I read the SDOE thread suggesting that you should have apoligized then. So I know your just a troll stuck in the SDOE community. Your actions just happen to reflect badly on everyone over there.
