Hmm. Is it getting better-looking? You decide.

IMVHO, it looks as if the pilot is vomiting engine oil bubbles

Anyway... http://pc.ign.com/news/24827.html

BTW- I *am* looking forwards to this sim, and honestly I don't care too much about the eye candy as the gameplay looks outstanding...still, it can't measure up to the other sims coming out graphically.

Me too, the eye candy is secondary to FM and game play, which sounds great so far.

But that Stuka error will bug the hell outa me

Argon,

Sulla pointed out that the Stuka in BoB was kind of an unholy match between one variant's fuselage and another one's wings...it may seem minor, still you'd wish they had gotten those details straight.

Anyway...that pilot looks like he's really barfing his guts out

You know, eye candy aside, all we have on their playability is a lot of hype about "BIG" formations. Well, we have big formations in EAW. I really don't worry too much if there are 1000 planes in the air at any one time. I can only shoot down one at a time. Of course, I like the way EAW does it as opposed to CFS, where you have to really LOOK around to find your next victim, as they cannot have too many onscreen at one time. I guess what I am saying is, we have a LOT of big talk from the creators, with some well-intended support from others on this forum who are willing to give it a chance. When you have thrown away as much money as I have on crappy sims, you want to be SHOWN something. From the looks of it, all they have to show is crappy, comic book-like graphics. Did you check out that smoke? And as I said before, their terrain graphics truly suck. They make the original EAW 1.0 terrains look like Renoirs.

Just my opinion. And yes, I am in a bad mood tonight. Looking at that crappy screenshot truly ticked me off. Why would a game creator in this day and age even SHOW such crap off to us as an example of his "creation"?

Well, what really attracts me is the realistic aircraft management, e.g detailed engine systems, prop pitch, etc.- at least, they talked about it in many interviews. This is something that's sorely lacking in EAW, even CFS has better system modeling...anyway, we shall see...

If the only BoB sim I play is EAW, I will still count myself among the fortunate.

OK, on the plus side, maybe they have a Hurricane that keeps burning (remember ours don't really burn). But notice, no shell casings? I'm spoiled now, that's de rigeur! A big "duh" for that one.

Well, the airplane itself certainly looks much, much better, but I'll agree with the others and say the effects could still use some tweaking. Smoke looks the same as MA, which is something I don't like about it.

The muzzle flashes in MA do not screenshot well, but they do look very good indeed in the sim, just so you know. I suspect the same is true of this Hurricane. But the smoke...

I personally think the standard of artwork and graphics in this BoB sim is absolutely awful. Sorry if this offends anyone, but it's almost too painful to look at. I know these guys made MA, (and that looked pretty horrible IMHO), but this seems worse. Have these guys not seen IL-2?? I know the in-game stuff like flight-model, etc. might be good in BoB, but if it at the expense of even half-way decent graphics, then I think that's bad. EAW is clearly superior to this sim in terms of graphics, and how old is EAW? I don't know if I'm in the minority about this, but I don't think I'm being vapid for asking for a more polished product.

Again, sorry if this trreads on anyone's toes, but I just had to get it off of my chest!

I for one is looking forward to this! Comparing the original artwork of EAW with BoB makes BoB look a lot better and we can only hope that we'll be making our own skins for BoB as well. Ff that happens BoB will certainly look better. Notice that for the first time in any WWII sim as I know of, the aircraft got different individual letters. (look at the Hurricanes, QO-A and QO-B) This is really promising to me. As for IL2, I look forward to that to but I don't wanna know what kind off computer would be needed to have a thousand plane raid with aircraft looking as good as the IL2 ones...
I'm sure going to give this a good chance.

I'm somehow doubt that BoB will feature huge masses of planes either, unless you have a more powerful PC Plain EAW still looks better than BoB, and EAW with all those new skins and terrain looks even better, IMHO.

I've got some news, in that MA can have 60+ airplanes in a huge boiling dogfight with no slowdown at all on my Celeron 550/96mb/V3-2K. On my previous system, Celeron 433/V2, the slowdown was barely perceptible. I don't see BoB having any problems, either.

If you expect to play any modern sim on a 233MMX, well, it ain't gonna happen.
