The French Revolution was my favourite ------------------ Bilko's HQ Chocks away, back soon old chap and hey, stay away from Mrs Bilko or I'll give you a damn good thrashing with my STICK Enlève les cales! Je reviens tout de suite mon vieux; et surtout, tu restes bien loin de Mme Bilko ou je te filerai une bonne grosse rouste avec mon BÂTON. Zwolnic bloki, wracam niedlugo stary pryku i hej, zostaw Pania Bilko w spokoju albo dam ci dobry wycisk moim KIJKIEM.

Top Choice: 1280 x 1024Second Choice: 800 x 600 To me 800 x 600 doesn't really offer a great deal of graphics improvement over the default 640 x 480, but the Field of View is vastly superior to any other resolution (except for 1600 x 1200, which is said to have the same FoV---but my monitor also only goes to 1280 x 1024, so I can't check it out myself). Again, this is just MY opinion, but 1024 x 768 is the first of the true "high-res" settings. Things look much better than the default or 800 x 600. Unfortunately, the FoV is too small---much smaller than the default; and small enough to hamper gameplay. As a result, my preference is for 1280 x 1024, which provides crisp resolution and has a wider FoV than the default. I'm running this on a 200Mhz Pentium with a Voodoo 3-2000 PCI and 96MB RAM. In order to get a decent framerate, I have to turn down some graphics settings. "Show Prop in Cockpit" definitely must go. I used to set "Ground Object Detail" to "Low", and this helped quite a bit. However, I've found that with HarryM's WindmillKill, I have less problems and can leave it set to "Medium". The only time framerates seem to get jumpy is when I have that old framerate-killer, a screenful of bombers. For the Voodoo 5, I don't have one, but according to those who have tried EAW with a V5, 800 x 600 with FSAA gives the same kind of picture that 1280 x 1024 does on an older card! The screenshots they've posted seem to support this.

Does resolution really affect bandwidth used when playing? I wouldn't imagine that the packets contain pixels, but geometric data instead. quote: Originally posted by Wasp: I use 1024x768 off-line and 640x480 on-line to reduce the burden on the phone line Regards Wasp

1280x1024 for sure. It's a s high as my 17" monitor will go, but I think it offers the best compromise between image quality and FOV. At 12x10, you can see planes much more clearly at longer ranges than at 800x600. As a result, I've been able to wean myself almost completely off of the targeting/range indicators, and for me that has boosted the "immersion factor" immeasurably. (Also, my gunsights look really good at that resolution... ) Good luck! I just upgraded my whole computer: Asus P3V4X motherboard, PIII at 800 Mhz, Elsa Gladiac 64 Mb (Geforce2 GTS), 256 Mb Ram.I had been using 1024 x 768. Tried 1600 x 1200 for the first time last night on my new monitor. WOW! (And I though my previous upgrade to a Rage Fury was good...) Of course, I had to sell my mother, but..... Chuck
