This is file I was told about from one of these forums. I pasted the following from the AMD site:

miniport_480.txt file for AMD AGP Miniport Driver Version 4.80 for
Windows 98/98SE/Millennium Edition(ME)

REQUIREMENTS:
Motherboard with AMD-751 or AMD-761 System Controller (Northbridge)
Windows 98/98SE/ME (not for use on NT 4.0 or Windows 2000)
AGP video card

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
To run the standard installation program, double-click on miniport_480.exe
1. A Welcome installation window is displayed, press Next to install, Cancel to
quit.
2. After installation a Finish installation window is displayed, press Finish.
3. The setup program installs the driver and .inf file and updates the system
registry.
4. REBOOT the system to load the driver.

To install the driver in silent mode without prompts:
1. At the command line in a DOS box, for example type: miniport_480 /s
2. The installation of the driver runs silently. The setup program installs the
driver and .inf file and updates the system registry.
3. REBOOT the system to load the driver.

To check the version of the driver:
1) Using explorer, right click on the setup or driver file, select "Properties".
2) Select the "Version" tab. The "File Version" field will be displayed.

REVISION HISTORY:
***** Version 4.80 *****
- Added support for the AMD-761 system controller

***** Version 4.71 *****
- Fixed an issue with Hibernation support

***** Version 4.61 *****
- Added AGP bridge driver to address PCI Cardbus controller issue
- Added ACPI/APM support for AGP bridge driver

***** Version 4.45 *****
- Changed behavior when errant video driver writes to an invalid GART table entry

***** Version 4.44 *****
- Initial release

Hope this helps. As far as what it did for me, I couldn't tell ya. No benchmarking done. Will do from now on though!

Ouch, mewinggone!!!! Again!!!!!!

I wish I knew how to determine what my chipset is with absolute certainty.

I have a k7v motherboard and an athalon but still feel queasy about upgrading.

ANyway Oz, Id be careful about upgrading a driver unless it can be "un-upgraded", lol.

Go to:
Control Panel>
System (properties)>
Device Manager
click on the plus (+) sign, scroll down until you come to PCI bridges and the types.

Hope this helps. Of course always use caution.
