Hmm, my system has been acting up lately and its got me totally stumped. I have a vortex 2 sound card in my system and lately I have been getting a lot of stuttering and garbled sounds in my games. For example, when I fire my guns in CFS2, i get a repeated garbled sound, the same with Crimson Skies. I fired up the Direct X Diag tool and check my sound tab, and did the tests, and I get nothing but garbled sounds with Hardware acceleration turned on. With hardware accel disable, the tests run fine, but games still don't function. I tried booting into safe mode and removing all the vortex drivers, and removing all the sound card files. I reinstalled all the files, and still no go. I tried upgrading to DX 8.0, and still had the same probs. The only thing I've done to my system lately is pull out my old Voodoo 2 card, and install another 512 megs worth of ram. Any suggestions, or is it time to reinstall win 98? BTW, I get the same sound probs under Win 2000. I'm stumped.
