I just loaded this game up on a new computer with a 1 gig Athlon Thunderbird with 256 meg RAM and 40 gig hard drive.It is really fun and beautiful,but it crashed 3 times to my desktop!! Is there any way to fix that? Thanks.

My understanding is that there is a patch for AMD processors.I'm not sure if this is the right URL but give it a look. http://www.amd.com/support/software.html

That AMD patch is NOT for the new Via KT133-chipsets.I had similar problems with CFS2 and all this was caused by old drivers.I just updated every imaginable driver on my system and the CFS2 seems(for now at least) to run without crashes.CFS2 is extremely picky about sound drivers IMO...

Gary Corbett, I have the exact same system and CFS is CTD also. I have tried every thing I can think of I have a Hercules prophet 2 GTS 64Meg, using Nvida denator 3 drivers and I am at a complete loss, I considering throwing CFS2 in the trash this is very flustrating. Either the game freezes or it CTD's I think it's my drivers but I do not know HELP ANYONE ...........

I use VIA's 4in1 v4.25 (chipset drivers),DirectX 8.0,Detonator3 v6.47 and latest version of drivers to my sound card (TerraTec DMX XFire).Also I use latest BIOS for my motherboard...It's a lot of tweaking and testing,but I can see the light now..LOL!

Try this it worked for me and it should work for All of you.............. OK what we are going to do is TURN OFF YOUR AGP SUPPORT.......... D-click My computer icon on your desk top D-click on the C drive D-click Program Files folder D-click on the directx folder andd-click on the settings folder that is in there D-click on the Dxdiag icon.This sould run the DX dianostic utiity.click the display tab and SWITCH off the AGP button Then click the exit button and return to the desktop.YOU should now be able to run CFS2 Its a easy fix to do and easy to reverse if it doesn't My E-mail address is jkurtz9412@cs.com if you have any probs or comments HAPPY FLYING!!!!!!!!

But what exactly will the effect be on the game graphics and all that stuff?Any? And won't that affect other games too?

Nope,at least with me it didn't....and it's easy to do and you can allways change it back,thats the good part about it ...

There's also a reference on one of the websites regarding problems if the processor is over 700 Mhz and has over 128 mb on memory. It think it was slow or crashing. Looked like it was a copy of Q article from MS site.
Didn't apply to me, so I didn't spend a lot of time on it. Good Luck.
