Just thought I would share this fix which seems to have worked for me..

Went into msconfig and stopped all of windows 98 power schemes from loading, also went into control panem power manager, never turned anything off...

Device Manager, disables everything for the sound card emulation except the PCI driver (ie disabled the joystick control since I use USB, disabled soundblaster emulation, disabled mpu-401 interface, also disabled advanced power managment

This is also my autoexec file
REM LH C:\WINDOWS\AU30DOS.COM
SET BLASTER = A220 I5 D1 T4

Note the REM statement..

Don't ask me why it all of a sudden works, but it does now!!!

Video card is a Creative annihaltor 2

Hope that works for some others having problems...

Chris
