Hey Siggi,
I had the *exact* same reaction a couple of weeks ago when I cracked this one open. Utter amazement and complete joy. Hope you enjoy it as much. Yes, yes, I realize that there may indeed be faults, (and that it's very hard to praise Miscrosoft for anything hehe), but man, are they outweighed by the goodies. Add to that the complete expandability factor and this may be one of the best sims in a long time--at least to me. I too skipped on CFS1, but after jumping into CFS2 and having the complete immersion in the details of just flying the plane, I was soon in flightsim Nirvana. Time to reread all those PacTheater books I have lying around... hmmm let's see Fire in the Sky, check. Samuri!, check Baa Baa Black Sheep, check Aces Against Japan, check--well, that should keep me busy for a night or so. D. "Dada" Miller

Really the only tip I can give from this side of the pond is one I picked up on this board a while back. The F4U will flip and flop like a wounded duck, at least with my joystick and the default settings. Some folks here suggested cutting sensitivity and deadzone to 10-15%, but I left the deadzone at default which is about 25% I think, and adjusted the sensitivity for rudders, elevators, and ailerons to 25% also, and it really smoothed out the stick response for the aircraft. Good hunting! Mk10 Maj=225th=

Well, I've tried two joysticks, and here's what I found: Logitech WIngman force: useless. Flight forces, frankly--suck. SOrry to say it. The only real reason (to me) to have a FFB stick is to warn you kinetically of a stall buffet while you're padlocked on a target. Now THAT would be REALLY cool. It escapes me why I have YET to find a sim that seems to even try to do this simple thing. They can do messages, screen shake, hud airspeed turning colors (EAW), but nothing like a simple stick buffet when you're about to stall. Go figure. Secondly, the sensitivity/throw of the this controls with this stick also leaves much to be desired. With the elevator sensitivity TURNED DOWN TO PRACTICALLY ZERO, moderate backpressure on the stick will still lurch me into an accel stall. I end up having to fly the sim like it has an F-16 stick, with no more that 1/4 to 1/2 stick movement in any direction to control it really well. It's a very nice stick (things like NFS have to be felt to be believed), but it's been very disappointing in every flight sim where I've tried it. So, I'm back to my trusty 'ol F22 pro. Now THIS is flying. Even so, I must also agree that adjusting stick sensitivities is a must. I goose up the airleons for the best roll rate. For the elevators, I've found that at default, they pull me into an accel stall much too quickly. By simply turning them down by about 1/4, I can now pull a solid 5-6 g's for as long as I want (or until I black out hehe). The trick is to allow enough sensitivity to acheive maximum g's at 3/4 to full stick pull, (using the hud g meter), but not so sensitive that a 1/4 stick pull already has you in an accelerated stall.
