Well, Oleg has stated that due to multiplay security they will keep the FM and DM tools to themselves.I like the OpenPlane idea too as it would allow WWI setting with dozens of WWI-era planes to replace the fundamentally flawed RedBaron3D, but then I live in a "Pay by the Minute" phone area and have always regarded singleplay to be a more important feature than multiplay in a simgame. This time multiplay considerations overcame singleplay interests. And given the importance of a good multiplay to a simgame nowadays, I can understand the decision they made. "HACKER", "CHEAT, U fly a MOD" etc. are often used words in OpenPlane multiplay chat. Really ruins the mood for the less obnoxious people present who are just trying to have some fun. So Oleg chose security over expandability to keep the F-16 superaces away from IL-2 arenas by pre-emptive action. But human nature being what it is, the virtual aces will always be called hacks by the crybabies regardless of justification. *sigh*

We are going by another way than OpenPlane. Please contact jtorgersson@yahoo.se . Joergen will explane you a bit. And please give me the link to Fi-156 cockpit details. Soon I will get detailed pics of still flyable Storch of private collection... But I need as more as possible info.

Hello Mr.Maddox Here is the link: http://trfn.clpgh.org/ah/fi156.html In the future there is a fair probability that some people will try to modify it. if the sim could do some kind of search or have some locking mechanism that allowed both good online play and open plane would be nice. but that may have to wait. another way would be if you were to load the FM/DM's from the CD every time you logged on to online play. another idea would be to (someday) let people build there own cockpits for exiting planes. On second thought Open Plane is not very important to stormovich the only planes that I would miss (considering you where to use everything you are considering for add-ons)of the top of my head are the Fw190f, bf110 and Hs 123. by the way what does water look like at low alttitude? By visting forums and such you stand a better chance of producing a better more marketible and usefull sim and at the same time create a very loyal market. The great patriotic war is now a sim [This message has been edited by Avimimus (edited 12-17-2000).]

As snake so rightly says, SDOE checks the aircraft sm files, if they differ from those of the host, then you aint gonna fly, a rather simple but effective way of doing things I think. While I'm in here, think I should say again that I'm looking forward to IL2, and can'ty wait to start building new terrains, ground units and aircraft for this aswell ~Nat~
Nat, if you lke to make new models for IL-2 already now:
1. you need to know 3D Studio MAX 3.1 and up. 2. Contact me mado@1c.ru There is other than OpenPlane way to make more units of our sim: 1. User make 3D models and textures for this model (and cockpit, if only can to make with our standards of quality. 3D and should be like real ) 2. We make all program modules for that model and release for free download. Our standards of programming FM isn't simple, that to offer to use it for mass. Also we don't like to release it for all, because spent for that too much time of development - this is our 'know how'

Hey, Thanks! http://trfn.clpgh.org/ah/images/FI564.JPG This is good drawings, but such isn't enough tha to make full 3D cockpit with our standards for modeling. Should be all views and close look to all labels, tables, levers, etc....

Don't Thank me thank dauntless who gave it to me for storm bird. on detail I had'nt looked at it for a while I just hope it will help. Oleg if someday someone makes better fm's then you claim to have (which I can'nt wait to see) could you help us edit them?
Nat:
When I listed the others It was luck that they where so open (exept Xvt and Xwa wich some body in the diesing group secretly paved the way for) If anyone wants good web sights for the others I have a long list. also my suggestion had been to load to memory (if host specifid) the fm's and dm's to prevent cheating (so you would have to make a new cd to cheat) I fly ofline
